My Dad back on Sept 05, sent his 2 Ranger 112's (purchased 93-94) to buck for repair along with the requisite return postage. Well he sent them to the address on the warranty paperwork.
Over thanksgiving he asks me how long warranty repairs usually take with Buck as he still he still had not heard anything back. He brings out the paperwork and sure enough it's the El Cajon, CA address. He had no clue that Buck had moved to Idaho.
Well, I helped him email Buck to find out if they had been forwarded to their new address. Well after a few emails back and forth he is told sorry they aren't in the system and mail forwarding had stopped years ago!
So at this point, no help from Buck, the knives he sent have not been returned by mail, the post office is zero help.
My dad is 60 years old and very old fashioned, no computers, no television, no cell phone etc.
Not right!!!

I kinda understand where your coming from, but thats on the post office not buck imo... Its not there fault. Just saying..

That really sucks but can you really blame Buck for this? They moved nearly a decade ago.

Did you look up and see what business is currently at the old CA address?

Never, never send anything back to a manufacture without calling them to get an RA first. Even if a company doesn't require it (although most all do) is still good to touch base on the phone first. The post office has people on staff to sort out this type of thing and figure out where they need to go. If they cannot figure it out they are to return the items. This process can take a year or more because way too many people send things to deliverable addresses.

is this a serious post? How in the world is this Buck's fault? Did you put a return address on it? You may still get it back.

You should have got back the knives from the post office by now as long as the package had a return address. This is not Buck's fault but just an unfortunate mistake and a lesson learned for all of us. Unfortunate in the world we now live that someone from the post office would not notice that where the knife is going is not Buck or that the business receiving the package is not honest enough to send it back.

That sucks but it's hardly Buck's fault that they moved. If you no longer want to purchase their products that's your business. Posting here reads to me like you're wanting Buck to "make things right" by sending you a couple of free knives. Hope that's not the case.

Not saying it's Buck's fault. I'm just saying it sucks and my Dad isn't happy. He did as he had in the past for warranty work and all was just fine. He didn't know they had moved. The post office is zero help. The company listed is a custom car shop but I couldn't find a working number and there are several "suites" in that building now so who knows.
It does show that Buck makes a good product as Dad hasn't needed any warranty work in 20 years...

This^^^. What happened to your Dad is sad. But things change, and it's never safe to make assumptions.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Your title "Buck just lost a life long customer" appears to blame them.

Looks like your blaming Buck to me... Buck has had 3 different addresses just in San Diego ... Maybe more... :)

Don't send any Winchester firearms to New Haven CT - WRA isn't located there anymore (irregardless of what is on the warranty paperwork you may have saved). If I can think of a few more to warn you about I will add them to this thread. Hope you get your knives back. OH

Just making comments,

At first I was concerned this story was a fishing expedition to rile Buck folks feathers. But, since OP has reported back I am less concerned.
I agree with everyone, its a sad, deal. I can think of a dozen or so dumb things I have done that has lost me money ( non-intoxicating or gambling events). I believe this has to be one of those for your dad. I hope Wolf-man-12 can help you out. Otherwise you will have to go on the long journey of getting the USPS to look for the trail of the package. Its do-able but is taxing to the spirit.

I do believe that if Buck was actually involved in a common sense way, they would give it a try to work things out.
