Buck Knife and Firestarter

Has anyone else used the "550 cord" with the strand of firestarter embedded in it for their lanyards?

I'm big on paracord stuff. I make all my own bracelets lanyards ect. I was taught the craft a long time ago (long b4 it was cool and popular) by a man who brought home a 1000 ft spool from Fort brag to entertain some kids lol. But browsing my local Wally World I found this gray and orange stuff that works great. I usually wouldn't buy it there but I took a shot. There's coated red cord inside and it burns forever.

I get the same cord at WallyWorld, it does burn very well....It's kinda of a pain to burn the fraying off because the cord catches fire, never ending....

It's funny you said that cause as I was typing that last post I was thinking just that. So I pulled some out and if u pull back the outer layer and with a small pair of scissors cut the cord, then just pull it out. It makes burning the ends easier. If not u end up with that charred bit on the end.

For a moment there, I thought you lit jb's fat cat, but now I see it's just fatwood. :D

Good to know that Mesa's spine is sharp enough to strike a firesteel and the sand blasted finish didn't interfere.
