Buck knife for Boy Scout?

Just curious what Buck knife model would make for a good Cub/Boy Scout knife as a gift for a young man? I was a Scout many many many years ago, but don't know what rules the Scouts have now-a-days for knife size and/or types... I'd like to get something that reflects that traditional Scout style.
Thanks

Don't Boy Scouts like knives with lots of blades and tools? Swiss Army more than Buck? I mean, how can any self-respecting boy consider himself prepared without a can opener, awl, flathead screwdriver, spearpoint blade, bottle opener, and some insect repellant?

Purchased a younger guy a Buck 112 slim. Took a while to grow on him, but now it's his EDC, now that the new is worn off.

It ended up being kind of a fugly baby poo yellow/green, but looks good with some grime on it.

26$ no one cries if it goes missing:)

Feels better in the hand than Dozier folding hunter IMO.

Just noticed you were looking for traditional Scout style - Maybe the 102 woodsman w/ a 4" blade? With a little responsiblity and luck, he might pass it on to his kid.

Thanks for the responses so far - I guess I should clarify a bit. I'm looking for a Buck that has that traditional "camp knife" design to it - kind of a basic multi tool design. I was thinking of something like the style of the "Canoe", but with the additional tools that a traditional Scout knife had. I just haven't had any luck finding something like that that Buck makes. You can buy official BSA knives, but the quality of their new "official" design isn't what it used to be.
PS: I also thought that the Scouts has size limits on their knife blades these days - but I haven't confirmed that...

they had Wenger make Buck labeled Swiss army type knives long ago......you won't find new ones, since Wenger rolled into Victorinox. that partnership with Buck ended very long ago. those Buck Swiss army you can find on ebay, but used mostly. nos ones are much rarer and pricier.

I have 2 new in box bucklites that were made for boyscouts. A cublite which is blue and a scout lite which is larger and red. They pop up on the bay on occasion

The only Buck brand close to a boy scout SAK type knife that I’m aware of is the Swiss Buck made by Wenger. It isn’t an official boy scout knife. I have one that’s like new with one small blade, one large blade , pliers, awl, can opener, phillips and flat screw driver/ bottle opener. I’m not attached to it and wouldn’t mind passing it along if you’re interested.

I don’t think Buck made a canoe pattern scout knife or anything similar. Mostly single blade pocket knives is all I’ve seen.

That’s okay dpsk, I understand. I’m sure he will enjoy the canoe. I’ve checked them in a store and they look to be well made.

This is responding to Lesknife...

I appreciate the offer - I was really hoping to find something with the same aesthetic of the old Cub/Boy Scout camp knife I used to have. It's for the son of one of my nephews, and I was looking to give him something with that traditional look and functionality. I'm debating on getting a Canoe and calling it good. I wouldn't necessarily mind buying one of the official Scout knives, but I've heard that they just aren't made like they used to be...

I have a couple Buck canoe patterns...only thing I dont like about them is made in China and the 420j2 steel. shouldn't matter for a boy though, easier to learn to sharpen.

I'm gonna highjack your thread for a sentence or two..... to do my usual begging for what i want...hey Jeff.......Buck should make an American made canoe pattern......please.....👍😁

At the National level, the BSA has no restrictions on blade sizes. Extract from the Guide to Safe Scouting:

"Knives"
"A sharp pocketknife with a can opener on it is an invaluable backcountry tool.
Keep it clean, sharp, and handy. The BSA believes choosing the right equipment
for the job at hand is the best answer to the question of what specific knife should
be used. We are aware that many councils or camps may have limits on the type
or style of knife that should be used. The BSA neither encourages nor bans fixed-
blade knives nor do we set a limit on blade length. Since its inception, the BSA
has relied heavily on an outdoor program to achieve its objectives. This program
meets more of the purposes of Scouting than any other single feature. We believe
we have a duty to instill in our members, youth and adult, the knowledge of how
to use, handle, and store legally owned knives with the highest concern for safety
and responsibility.
Remember—knives are not allowed on school premises, nor can they be taken
aboard commercial aircraft." (page 48)

As mentioned, there are local councils, camps, troops and event organizers that prohibit sheath knives, blades of a certain length, etc. If so, it will be mentioned in the leaders' guide for the event/camp/etc.
