Buck knife sheaths

ALSO, even their custom knives come with sheaths that are made in Mexico. The one I got with my CKS 110 was actually worse quality than one I got on a standard, store-bought 110 last year. That one had a felt pad on the inside to protect the knife from the button, as my CKS sheath did not. Neither the button nor belt loop were centered either. I mean, the sheath worked, but I made a new, double belt loop for it and put a felt pad on the inside.
The 110 I got from WM had this note in the sheath "Made in Mexico, by Mexicans, from Mexicans". It looks as good as the USA one I got years ago.

Leather and sheath making must be cheaper in Mexico than here. Simple economics. You can always toss the sheath and order a nice custom one made here.

Exactly what I do for my fixed Bucks. Not so much because of Mexico, but because I don’t think Buck sheaths are sturdy enough. You can get great 3rd party sheaths in leather or Kydex for around 30-40$. Kydex is also better for storage if the knife has brass (like my custom 119 - which had a Made in the US sheath).

Not in my humble opinion! The older sheaths had better, thicker, better finished and more pliable leather.
Here is a comparison of 118 sheaths. The one on the left is from a recent Boone and Crockett issue, MIM. On the riht is a 118 sheath from a two liner, USA. Sorry you can only see the difference and can't feel the difference.
