I recently purchased a pocket knife off eBay mainly because the seller said he saw no model number or date code. Wondering if there has been other Buck knives like this? Since this is my first post, I cant find how to insert a picture. There is an icon to insert image, but cant figure out how to use.
Thanks Gary

Update on no model Buck: It is a Buck Access B463-BK-0 Cat# 5080 "Clone"

To post pictures you need to use a photo hosting site like Imgur.com, using the BBCode that imgur assigns to the picture.

Or, if you provide a detailed description of the knife, or how it was described in the sales listing on Ebay, someone might be able to find pics of the knife in the "sold" listings on Ebay and post the pictures for you.

Upload your photos to a free photo site and use that picture icon above the posting box to put in the link to the photo.

Well I guess I am technology challenged. Uploade pics to Imgur, still can’t upload here. So here is the item number from eBay.

Congrats on posting the pics Harleydude47, unfortunately I believe that knife is a counterfeit. I can't find any record of Buck ever producing such a knife, and I do believe that Buck stamps the model number on the blade of every knife they make.

Chinese counterfeiters often print the names of well-known knife brands on their knives. Many such knives have been produced with "BUCK" printed on them.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking on the same line. It will go into my Chinese pile. I will put up another post soon on a Kershaw 1993 I picked up.

Update on Buck With No Model #: "Its a Clone/ Counterfeit" of a Buck Access B463-BK-0 Cat# 5080
Hope this is how I update this thread.

The Buck Access can be found on page 15 of the 2002 Buck catalog- https://www.buckcollectorsclub.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/05/BUCK-2002-Catalog.pdf
That’s very kool catalog. The knife I found is a 2000 without the serrated blade. It’s still in the plastic unopened. But I will post update when I get it to compare. So to get access to those catalogs, do I need to join the Buck Club? Is there a recommended book for knife values? Levines 4th edition has been recommended, but it’s ridiculously expensive.

I don't know anything about the club, I just found the catalog online. I saw a Buck Access with the date code for 2002 (anvil), and so I did a search for the 2002 catalog.

Ill have to check it out. There is an estate sale with a lot of Buck knives in boxes. One of them looked identical to mine, except you could see model and date code. It sold before I could acquire it, but another came up and I was able to purchase. Just waiting for it to show up to compare.

I did some research on this... meaning I went in my closet and pulled out the two I own.
I can't vouch for what was found on EBay .
I bought both of mine from the site in Eastern Tennessee in 2001. So the chance of them being clones is very remote.

Help me understand the difference from being a clone and being a counterfeit, if there is a difference. Are clones sanctioned by the OEM maker and counterfeits not I assume. I don’t see a model or date code on yours either. Thanks for your pics. More great info.

Buck knife forum here has information on counterfeits. That said, I don't know of any situation where they would authorize anything but genuine Buck.

Yes that’s my curiosity. I on purpose bought a Benchmade Clone (as advertised) to compare to the real thing after seeing several YouTube posts about clones. It comes in Benchmade box (similar to OEM box) and until I get a real one, can’t give a novelist opinion. The previous owner of my supposedly 463 said he bought it approx 10 years ago but did not keep the plastic packaging. I will post a pic of the second one’s packaging when I receive it. There is one more for sale yet on eBay.

Based on the pictures , it could very well be the real thing. They were an economically made knife. Lightweight with a good lock and sharp blade.
Hope yours turns out well.
