Recommendation? Buck Knife with no Model #

Based on the pictures , it could very well be the real thing. They were an economically made knife. Lightweight with a good lock and sharp blade.
Hope yours turns out well.
I found the Buck club and they have the catalogs and price sheets for download starting in the 1940’s to current.

My personal definitions-

Clone- A knife made to look like an identical or near identical version of an existing knife, but without the markings of the real thing, and sometimes with its own distinct brand/markings.

Counterfeit- A knife made to look like an identical or near identical version of another knife, and bearing the markings of the real thing, with the intent of tryingto trick people into believing it's the real thing.

Of course opinions and personal definitions will vary.

In regards to your knife, I found a post here on Bladeforums from 2010 where a member said they purchased a knife just like yours at Walmart (opening hole, no model number or date code).

So maybe it's genuine. Perhaps it was a special run just for Walmart (extra cheap). Either that or the member was mistaken where he bought it, or Walmart was selling counterfeits. It seems strange to me that Buck would sell knives without date codes, but it also surprised me that the Access (with thumbstud and date code) doesn't have a model number on it. So who knows.

Wow! Very interesting. The one I just purchased off eBay is in clear plastic and type that u hang on a rack. I’ll see about posting pics I pulled off the eBay post to see what you think. I’ll get on my laptop and attempt to post pics.

Ok! Here is what I bought off eBay. Of course in order to inspect and compare to my "Buck with no model or date code", I need to cut open the package. Opinions on ways to open without destroying the package would be helpful. So what's everybody's opinion? Open or look for a 463 out of the package. I've seen other 463's but they must be later models as they have a partially serrated blade.
