I am interested in buying a new knife and after some browsing on the internet, I really like the Buck Sirus. Is this a quality knife and do people that own one like it?

...If ya want a totally impartial critique of the Sirus just wait til Buckaholic sees your inquiry...He'll let you know exactly how that knife holds up to use in the "harshest" of conditions ( ...cuttin' salami, slicin' cheese, choppin' Spam... ) ..."Sirusly"... :p

Oh my. Darryl is correct. My Sirus 298GY that I got from Larry The Rat is one, if not, THE number one, in my EDC rotation.
Darryl was being kind by not mentioning that I cut a slice out of my lip after licking cheese off the blade after slicing pizza. That thing is wicked sharp, dependable, and true workhorse. I have also used it to slice semi-frozen Scrapple. So, you see, I'm no lumberjack on a paper towel ad...but I use that knife pretty much everyday. Cardboard, rope, plastic, food, lips, etc.

Certainly I like the ASAP gig although the safety actually gets in the way. That meaning that there are times I go to extract the blade and the safety is on. I never set it to be in safe mode...it just happens in the pocket.

And, the selling point for me is the way the clip is positioned for extract from the pocket. Meaning that the clip is at the butt of the knife. Mike Kerrins pointed that out to me before I got mine.

Also like the spacer gig. It has an open design that permits easy cleaning of crud that would normally get stuck in the bottom of the handle of say a 110.

The steel is superb. Keep in mind that the one Sirus I have is a 298GY which is blessed with BOS ATS-34.

I love the overall form, fit, and function. I would beleive that to be true even w/o the ATS-34.

It is almost always with me even if I am carrying something else on the belt. And, that "something else" is always another Buck.

Thanks for help, I will probably end up buying this knife.

Like Jim said...I think you will like it.
Get it.
What are your other options? Some other knife?

I could only imagine telling my old lady: "Listen, if you're hungry you're going to have to hoof it to McDonald's because the car is below "E" and there aint a stitch of food in the fridge. Before you go, what do you think of this new 110? Nice, right? We can always get gas and food, but this was a one time offer. Oh...bring me back a Big Mac and large fries."

In reality, if this were to happen, I would have that very 110 protruding from my chest.:D

LOL B110. I'm lucky, so far...
I get the mail first and have separate checking accounts
BUT, there were days where I got a Double Cheeseburger for a dollar (plus eight cents tax) and nothing else at MickeyDee's and brought it home on my scoot since the 4x4 was low on gas to watch an auction. Pathetic. :(

HA HA...that's for real. I'd bring the burger home since I was too cheap (read as "broke") and needed to have a soda from home to wash it down instead of paying about another buck for a soda at McD's. Then I'd see what Whatever, Arksknives, NavajoPrincess, or whomever was up to, yak here, and wait for the UPS dude like Ugly Betty waiting for the prom date that will never show.

You would need a pack of those little boogers you got to keep you warm. However, what those yorkies attract will most certainly keep you warm; and possibly curl your toes if you're lucky.:D

i best sleep in the dog house!
them yorkeys get me in enugh trouble with the wife and strange women
that what to hug the cute doggy... with my hand still on the dog!!!

LOL....Oh Goose,

You are my hero   :D .

You and I are one in the same.....addicted....and.....to Buck knives of all things. I don't even buy food at work anymore.....to expensive....I brown bag it and drink water. Saving my pennies for the next fix...or a I mean buck knife.

However, I don't get the mail all of the time.....first....and the folks who drive that brown truck come by after I leave for work.....so my better half hands me the box's she has a  face and I have a :o face. I'm about to go through my old safe queens and cull out the non-Bucks to sell off and convert the proceeds into more Buck knives ;) . Oh well; I wont fight it......I'm to weak.

Not meaning to hijack this thread back to knives but I just bought a Sirus 298GY with BOS ATS-34 off of ebay for around 50 bucks delivered. I have been carrying it everyday in the side of my front pocket.

Even though I carry a SAK I find it a lot easier to reach in, grab the Sirus, snap it open and cut than it is to get the SAK, open the correct blade and use it.

Yesterday, I noticed I was wearing a new jacket that stll had the tag hanging off the barb. In the old days I would have pulled out my Explorer, opened up the scissors and snipped the barb. No more, just a quick florish of my new Buck and the tag was no more!

What is the little thing protruding along the spine of the Sirus? It looks like it would be uncomfortable to grip.

What's on the radar for your next Buck John?

Well Goose,

My next Buck will be the BCCI fund raiser Duke 500. The club news letter has me wanting the 07 Buck catalog :D . I've got to save my lunch money for the next few months. The better half said I need to slow down :o :( ......I've got to show her your BOTM thread.....no....better not....if she finds your wife and has a little talk with her about you being a bad influence and all....it may slow down your BOTM thread....LOL. Oh, I need one of those Buff Kolinga's also!!!

Hello Chad,

I don't own a Sirus...yet. However, I do have a Tempest with the ASAP technology. The Tempest is basically the same knife it just has a skeleton handle. These knives sure are slick; when I'm at work I only carry the Tempest.....when I'm off work I carry my AG 110 in a sheath on my side and the Tempest in my front pocket.
