I finally caught up with the seller today who claimed he had a Buck knife made for Sears in the 60's. It turned out to actually be one of the Craftsman American Eagle Collection series knives made by Schrade c. 1970. It does bear a casual resemblance to a Buck Special in shape and but clearly not a Buck. It is sligntly longer in overall length falling between the 119 and 120. I can see how the less experienced might think it is a Buck because of a similar blade shape with a fuller groove and the shape of the pommel which is also loosely Buck like. My reading this morning suggests that a fuller groove is a feature not normally used by Schrade which may also contribute to the confusion. I found several places on the internet this morning where this knife was incorrectly attributed to Buck. Here is a picture ripped off from elsewhere.
