I never thought of Buck as my favorite knife company. I started thinking over the knives I've owned over the years, I've owned more Bucks then any other company. I don't tend to hold on to most knives long, I trade and gift most of them away. I'm looking for a few classic Buck knives to hold on to for good. These knives will all be users, edc and outdoors.

The knives I already plan on getting:
Buck Nighthawk
Buck 110 ( Probably a Custom shop and a Bass Pro model)
Buck Companion Dymondwood
Buck Vantage Pro
Buck ErgoHunter Boning Knife Avid

So what am I missing ?

Some more classics: the 119 and - may be - the 124 too.

Best,

My favorite(and first Buck, in 1970) the 118, great blade for just about everything. If I could only have one fixed blade(it was) this would be it. Followed by the 110 that you've mentioned.

You might look at the 501 for EDC, great design. Preston

Buck makes some nice stockman knives in the models 301 and 303. They're great everyday, not afraid to use knives.

Buck Vanguard Cabela's Alaskan Guide

I'll put in a 3rd vote for this knife. It's been my main EDC from the first time I used it. Also, I think you should get one of each gold etch knife Buck ever made.......thats just my wish list ;).

In my opinion, no collection of users would be complete with out a 500 and a 532. Both are discontinued, but they can be found regularly on auction sites and also as Limited Editions from Buck. Here's a couple shown with a 112 for comparison. The 500 is the middle one with the 532 below it.

Hi J,the knives mentioned so far are all great.I'd like to throw the Paradigm into the mix since it's not only a great piece but a good one hand operating knife as well.I've been getting a few Buck knives to collect as well because I think so highly of them. Some of those are signed by the Buck family on the blade and I'm keeping those to pass down when my days are gone. The quality of a Buck knife is second to none and a forever warranty is something pretty much unheard of nowadays!

I think every Buck addict should own at least one 103, 110, 112, 119. That should cover all the basic knife needs one should have. Then add others as needed as the habit takes over your life.

I think everyone should own at least one Buck 110 folding hunter with an S30V blade and Sambar Stag scales.

Like milk that came in glass jugs in the old days, where cream would be on the top. Sambar Stag and S30V IMO are the cream.

... but that's just me.

Must have's for me are the 301, 303, 103, 110. and 119. Of course you need them in a variety of handle materials and colors too.:D

Here is my go in-the-grave-with list. The collection will be sold for wine, women and song at the last minute......300

110 2 rivet (mine) to tie back to the past when Buck was a under-the-shed business and to show off the skill of sharpening 440C.
112 David Yellowhorse. Because I have always liked 112s better than 110s, go figure...maybe because of the name....Ranger. I could also show the other helleons what real knife art is all about. And heck in the here-after you might as well have a fancy scale, you don't have to worry about breaking it.
119 ...My Survivor man knife. Will probably never need it but, 'It's There".
121....Its just so right. If I ate Sushi I would cut it with this knife.
103....I may have to skin a hell dog.
301.. First model Schrade because it has that look, ala M. Monroe.
303 .. 1988 Elk Scale. Elk- enough said, those who do will know.
.
And last....a
Buck Hatchet (old one) Because maybe just maybe I will get lucky and my heavens gonna have some mountains, streams and trees. And I will make a campfire every night....~( : - }
