At this house.....all doors are locked and all guns are loaded. Back yard has a five-foot chain link fence. There is a security system. There is also a dog.
When I leave this house, all guns are locked up one in of the safes except for the Glock 26 in my pocket.
Some knives are always on display, but I keep traffic in that area to a minimum.
When I go to the range I always put the guns in the van while it's inside the garage. None of my neighbors has seen me carry a cased gun to my van. None of them know I own a gun. I would never have one of those inane "Protected by Smith & Wesson" stickers on my door. A sign like that really says, "I have guns, come and steal them."
I would never have an NRA bumper sticker or a window decal that identified me as a hunter. The only sticker I have is one that reveals that I donated to the police benevolent fund. Other than a little camo once in a while, I don't wear any clothing that would identify me as a hunter or shooter.
I would not put the Buck license plate on my car, but I don't think it would be a serious security breach to do so. The license plate frame that has been mentioned would probably do no harm and a buck trademark without the name would be even better.
I realize that some here are probably already well-known locally as collectors and gun-owners, so they can't really do themselves any harm by advertising what's already known.
Some may live in areas that are crime-free, so they don't have to worry.
Or maybe they just think they don't have to worry.
