Buck-made in china

I like 420HC, stay away from 420J steel, it was too soft for my take. I have a Chinese Buck stockman, liked the bone, F&F were good, but did not keep an edge long and the shield popped out. It did the job, but not the first I would grab for my EDC.

Interesting thread. With what is going on now with Covid-19, many I know are avoiding products made in Communist China.

As a Bostonian I gravitate toward slipjoints with a blade length of under 2.5 inches for legal reasons. My one Buck is the 380 Mini Trapper made in China that I found at an antique mall for $5 several months before the Covid. My most frequently carried knives are the Spyderco Roadie and the SAK Cadet. If Buck made a slipjoint in the USA with a blade under 2.5" I'd buy it.

Do they? Thanks.

Love my Buck Glacier. Good steel, works great, takes and holds good edge - yes China made.

Thank you for the suggestion! Definitely a possibility. I wish that they made one with a single 420HC blade at 2.5 inches because I have always found 3 bladed Stockmans to be a little thick for my taste. But I will check this one out.

I considered the Solo but it doesn't have 420HC like the USA-made options.

Anyone have any experience with the Solo? Thanks
