I'm loving my new Buck Marksman, but I had a few questions about the Strong Lock System.

Do I need an Allen key or Torx to tighten up the 2 strap lock mounting screws on the top of the knife? What size?

Also, what tool is needed to adjust the tiny lockup adjustment screw?

All the screws are torx the back takes a t6 and the pivot is a t15.
Looks like Buck has changed the pivot screw, mine is a t10. It looks like everything else takes a t6 except for the strap and adjustment screw.

Does anyone know what the adjustment screw takes?

On mine, the two screws that attach the strap are hex. I even looked at them with a magnifier and I believe that they are hex.

I have a Torx set, and 2 hex key sets. The problem is none of my hex keys will fit the strong long adjustment screw.

Thanks Tom!

Tom called it: 1/16" HEX.

Note that a cheap, dollar store, hex will not work. I know because I tried it. A quality tool is the ticket to adjust the pick lock.

Seems like I recall a thread where someone posted that the pivot screw had changed on the Marksman from when it first came out. Maybe a different size now? Anyone else remember reading that? Maybe I'm thinking about something else?

I got one of the first 830's off the line and the pivot screw takes a 1/8" hex.

My Marksman was made on 6-18-14, the tools needed:

Pivot: T10
Handle screws & pocket clip screws: T6

2 Strap Lock screws: 1/16'' Hex
1 Strap Lock adjustment screw: .050'' Hex

Where is the date on this model?
I am interested to see what mine is when it arrives.
Matt

You will find the date of manufacture of the 830 Marksman near the scan bar on the container it comes in. In the case of this folder it is on the end flap: 08/05/2010.

Your Marksman, new for 2014, will have the year code etched onto its blade between the thumb hole and the handle. It looks like a tiny bowl with one grape centered in it (think female breast).

Thank you sir.
I will certainly post my thoughts on his when it arrives. It looks to be an instant win for my pocket time!

Ummm.... Steve.... I will never see the 2014 date code, ever again, without seeing it as what you described......lol
