Buck Maverik 877

First Walmart had none of these, checked the xmas gift cardboard display stuff and the locked knife display case.....zero, zip, notating:o.

The second Walmart did not have any in cardboard xmas stuff. But, did have a few in their locked knife display....score:thumbup:. They also had a wood handled 620 Reaper, not my style of knife, although it looked cool with a wood handle:).

JB, if you let me know where you are I will find a local store with the 877 in stock.

Hi emw,

The second Walmart did have them, Thanks for your offer. However, if we can find out what the scue number is then anyone can order one on line and have it shipped to their local walmart for free. The last Buck 110 sold by Walmart in the xmas tins were never stocked at the local Walmarts here, but, someone did post the scue number and I had them shipped to my local Walmart.....just an FYI to those who want one but can't find them.

I hate my Walmart. Three trips and no luck. I'll try another one tomorrow.

On a side note, I did get their last Buck 110 (and their only made in the USA knife). It was a 50th Anniversary model and for under $30! It must have been sitting there a long time. The bolsters were tarnished with someones fingerprints visible on them. It took a little effort to clean it up but it looks great now. :)

Found one today on clearance. I had my choice of 10 two liters of generic Mtn Dew, or the knife.
I chose the knife.
Love it so far.

They are a Wal Mart exclusive. I was told by my Wifes Sister who is a Manager at one where I live. I luckily bought one as well, went back to get a few more and they were gone like the wind.

A great Knife for 20$.

Grabbed one...great little Blade that could easily lend to modifications.
I saw a slew of them at Wally world...checked in here, went to a closer one to buy and nothing, guess they aren't all stocking them.
Went back the next day to the first place and couldn't find them! They moved them...plenty in stock.

Hit the stones and easily got it really sharp.

I love my 1095 Beckers but lately I'm being drawn to the Bucks for some rust resistant steel. This is my first official Buck purchase lol. Next up will prob be that $40 Reaper. Looks like a steal!

I've been lurking here a bit and figured I can now post with at least one Buck in the collection even tho its a baby lol. I almost had another from flea bay but thanks to you guys here I did NOT end up with a fake. Luckily the seller was cool with me cancelling my order, it was that close!

I liked the Maverick but was disappointed when I discovered it wasn't a USA Buck. These white handled ones look even cooler. I wish I knew about these earlier, and I wouldn't mind if Buck makes them a regular thing either.

I wanted to pick one of these up after christmas but I think the store that sells these has a different protocol this year. In years past you could go the day after christmas and maybe get 25% off of the holiday "gift sets". I know the local stores had flashlight sets, kerhsaw sets, buck sets, winchester sets, tool sets, etc before christmas. However when I went the next day all the sets and the displays were gone! This was in all 4 stores local to me. It is sad because I couldn't justify spending the money for the special edition Maverik before christmas, but had some extra from gifts after the holidays. Now the USA Maverik is in no local stores and unfindable on the website. Oh well...

Which is why I wouldn't mind if Buck makes them a regular thing. I would most certainly buy one, and I think others would at that price point too!

Buck showed me the Chinese-sourced version of this knife last fall. I asked them to make it in the USA so that we could sell an American-made knife for Christmas. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Look forward to similar items next year.

Picked up one of these and they are a great little knife, especially for the money. My question is if Buck can make this in the USA cheaply (obvious for what they were being sold for and assuming no one lost any money (Buck or Walmart)) why can't they make the Chinese version in the US?

My guess is because it's a fixed blade with one piece of steel, two scales and three screws. The retailer probably committed to a specific order so they were paid for as soon as they were made. Not every offshore product falls into this category or situation. With so many made in the U.S. models and variations to choose from I just don't see what the problem is with a few models being made overseas?

I don't have a problem with the China made Bucks if it keeps them in business, just was curious about the situation thats all.

Please accept my apology. I just get tired or reading the same old thing about China this and China that. People seem to have to beat that horse at ever turn often without even commenting on the actual content of a thread. I should not have assumed that was our intent and I hope you will forgive my transgression.

With regards to my comment about the knife, I don't have any more knowledge about why Buck can or does something than anyone one else. Heck, they might have taken a lose on it just to keep the customer happy or maybe just broke even. I just figured it's about as basic a blade as you can make so that seemed like a viable theory.
