I have an unused Buck model 532 with BG-42 steel blade and blue colored handles. The natural colored sheath has the number 500 stamped on the back of it under the belt loop. The front has the Buck logo staped on the closure flap.

Does anyone know if this knife has an kind of collectors value? I think that there was somewhere around 600 issured with the blue handles.

This is one of the BG-42 stamp

Those knives were a special project in 2000. There is also a red and a brown birch version of the same knife. They usually sell in the $70 to $90 range and I think they should be collectible. If you are a real collector you should know that all three versions were maded with and without Master Series blades. So it takes six knives to complete the set!

I have the red birch version in BG-42 steel and love it. If you'd like, I am more than willing to relieve anyone of their other versions. :D

Hi Ron,

Can you post a pic for us to view?

jb4570,
I have posted some pictures but was not able to pick up the blue very well in the handles and the photo of the blade makes it look marred, however, there are no marks on the blade other then what was there out of the box.
What is the sugnificance of the # 500 on the back of the sheath?
Knife World says there were 810 of the indego sent out to dealers.

Thanks again for the help!

Mike,
I am not a Buck collector but I do have a few in my collection of knives. I have both sizes of the Intrepid, and a M-9 bayonet by Buck and Phobis III as well as my very old Buck 110 which I carried for years when I was working.

Thanks for you info.

That last picture looks as if you had your camera on "sepia" setting.

Evil Eye Earl,
No, I do not have a sepia setting on my camera but I tried to enhance it using Phot Paintshop and Photo Album 5. I am not very accomplished with my system and it does indeed have a sepia setting so you are probably right that I some how got it stuck there.

Thanks for the tip.

Evil Eye Earl,
I can not remember how old my old 110 is but it has to be well over 30yrs old. Let's see, my daughter is 34yrs. old and I had my 110 for some years before she was born so it must be closer to 40yrs. old. It has a much smaller handle the the current 110's, not shorter but smaller around. I still carry it in my survival gear in my car. Its' cut a lot of cardboard, poly, herculite, and ropes (I was a nuc.machinist in a shipyard).

DarrylS,
You wanted some pictures of my OLD Buck 110 so here they are:

and the other side. I made a lanyard hole in the butt and bead blasted the top of the blade for one hand opening.

Pack Rat,

Yes it does have a small USA under the Buck but part of it is a little worn from opening over the years.
Yes it does have a nail nick but I never used it much after bead blasting the top part of the blade.

Oh Me,,,,,That is only the 2nd one of those I have ever seen. And I have the other one. Maybe some of the others have one, but I haven't ever heard them say..

You have a rare 3rd version knife, 1967. Pics in a few minutes. Yeah, there are are a lot of 3rd versions, but that one is more rare than the others....

Pack Rat,
My 110 may be rare but it is also kind of beatup from using it for so many years so I don't see as where is could be worth very much, do you?
Lets see your pictures....hurry, hurry,;) ;)

Yes, yours has obviously been a faithful user. No way anyone could know in those early times how collectable some of these critters can be.

But what makes this one rare, versus a normal 3rd version is that it DOES NOT have scale pins. Just the brass Rocker pin. Unfortunately the Blade Guide gives no information on it other than to say " The inlays will be held in place by two small rivets though one rare version has no inlay rivets at all"

The guide puts a value of $200 on a mint 3rd version. Makes me curious what one of the non rivet ones would bring. But I'm not gonna test the market
Mine isn't quite mint as it has been sharpened lightly
