I knew it was around the corner, but it sure snuck up on me this year. It was last wknd when I realized archery season opened this wknd.
Generally I would've started shooting a few months ago, but shoulder has been giving me some trouble for a couple years now so I wasn't to anxious to start real early.
Buck 110 Slim, Beagle and Bear Attack, the pup wanted some attention so I didn't shew him off, really like shooting this bow.Buck 110 slim, Beagle and Bear Attack.jpg

Did someone grind that blade on the Case down like that? DM

Nope. It’s all factory. It’s a awl/punch. It won’t cut anything but scrapes a fire steel like no other. I like the awl over a smaller pen blade like most stockmans. I use the sheeps foot for a utility blade and main blade for food and things like that and use the awl for poking, piercing and scraping and light prying. It’s a perfect knife for edc. For me anyways.

Yes we have restrictions on shot guns in Germany. But bows are free, each type of bow. Bow hunting is forbidden. No way. If bow hunting would be allowed, the bows would become restricted. The most archers don’t t want to hunt with the bow. So the bow is still free.

Yes, the Kodiak magnum is a great bow. But more often I use my traditional English longbow made of yew.

Well, the Kodiak is meant for hunting and has a heavy pull.......I don't imagine it would be popular with target shooters.

I truly had no idea that bow hunting was forbidden in Germany. Surprising.

Thanks for the fascinating information.

You said restrictions on shotguns.......I assume that applies to rifles and handguns as well.

Here there are no restrictions on bows and, at least where I am, the bowhunter's deer season comes first so they get first crack at the deer........thus they have a better chance at the trophy bucks.

Sorry for the thread diversion.......thanks to all for the wonderful pictures. I'll try to add one of my old recurves along with an old Buck knife.

This thread is building my interest in bows again. I used to love just shooting the things, but recurves always seemed more fun to shoot. Less mechanical feeling I guess. I never got into it as much since I didn't sit well as a kid and stuck to small game hunting with shotguns mostly, kicking pines trees, stump piles, and a lot of walking. I'm a little more patient these days.

Nice pics, look forward to seeing some more.

bikerector you will enjoy a recurve a lot I have been shooting mine every evening since I got it two weeks ago.

I had a Bear recurve bow when I was a kid.I believe it may have been a Kodiak as well.It was sold by Sears and I bought it in 1971,my first year of bow hunting. It took me all summer of lifting weights, with my older brother,to eventually be able to pull that string back.LOL

I do wish I had it now but sadly I sold it to move on to the next newer model.

I've had this bow for years and it has served me well.

^^^That’s a great looking Randall and Buck !! What model buck is that. Didn’t realize how close to the Randall model 28 it is.

Since you all seem to like the Bears here are a few. On the right is a '55 dual shelf Polar with nice curly maple. The left bow is one you all may never see again. Mine is the only one I've ever seen. It's a 1954 Kodiak K6. A rare bird. The knife is a 110 I redid.

I'm sorry that I missed your question. That Buck is a 119 that I modified.I reground a broken blade into a 4" drop point.I also modified the hilt, handle and butt cap.

Here it is with another 119 that I also modified.
