Buck nemo 122?

I pulled the 1970 date for Kenja's knife from memory (probably a mistake). Later I went and checked references: Joe Houser has 1971, but Richard Matheny in a model history article has 1970. Is there room for question on the date, or not?

Well, as long as you give your approval for us to side track on this topic...
Joe's sheet reads under 1972: "Upside down stamp. Buck, 124. U.S.A.. 122 may exist with this stamp too although no 122 were made in 1972."
So, he leaves himself some room. He also said no 2 line Kalinga exists. But I've held one. DM

We've gone full circle on dating many time before.... in summary
As with all things Buck.... +/- always seems to apply.

I'm certainly not going to disagree w/ Richard Matheny.
But I have noticed this pattern... When a new guy comes on the Buck Forum asking for information on a rare model. Members here know he likely has it offered for sale so they run to check slee-bay. And sure enough they find it and know more than the seller and click on buy it now,
before the seller finds out the REAL, correct information. So, these antics are funny to watch for. DM

I try to never ask questions openly here about a knife I'm interested in buying for the very reason you mention David.

(IMO) In this particular case I think the knife sold for a good bit more than it was worth. The seller did very well. What I see is that knives with interesting discussions here on the forum suddenly appear in multiples on eBay for sale, often at a premium price.... sellers trying to cash in on the temporary wave of interest.

That's interesting. The stuff that goes on as a off shoot of our discussions here. I miss the Saturday adventures with Lloyd Bridges and his Nemo. DM

I was not sure what the value was ad I didn't want to ask cause I know its not allowed. But to be honest i was going to raise the value after I got help. But before i got to change it. Someone bought it. I didn't want to give incorrect info on the knife so i posted it saying "I don't know which exact model or year the knife is from" and that's the way I sold it as. I just didn't want to sell something that wasn't and that's why I asked.
I hope I didnt offend anyone because i was trying to sell the knife. If i did. Im sorry. I just wanted to make sure I was selling something that was real. Selling something I'm uncertain of makes me feel uncomfortable. This is why I came here to ask and i really do appreciate all your help. Ill contribute a donation to the forum.
If what I did asked was wrong. I will remove my other question I have about my butterfly knife im trying to sell and need info on. But I do think this forum is cool because I can learn about knives and get good, info about them. As I myself love knives and guns. Anyway I hope no one took offense for me asking questions about a knife I was trying to sell. After the knife was sold.. I told the buyer he can take his knife to get the serrated part sharpened again as well as the information everyone gave me here on forum. Thank you . I hope you guys have a safe and merry x mas.

At least, Kenja, you make profit with our knowledge. I stopped answering questions like yours. Only other members of the forum i know in quite a spell will get an answer. Your questions are always (mostly) end with an ebay auction or a for sale thread here at the Blade Forums. I always feel suckled. Diadvantaged ar the collectors who found an interestig item for the collection and ask to extend their knowledge.

I'm a paid member now. I respect your feelings. I do appreciate anyone that does help me out with questions about a knife I may have or want to sell on eBay. If you do read my ad on eBay. I never even used the information that i got on this forum. It sold before I was able to even put it in.
I put my donation in to the forum and I will always appreciate the help I can get. If i do have a knife I may want to sell or buy. I sort of feel like a jerk for asking. But i dont understand why its wrong for me to ask questions about a knife I'm interested in selling. If someone had a question about a firearm they wanted to sell. I would hve no problem with them asking. Anyway I apologize if anyone took offense.

Thanks. I joined to show my appreciation as well as to learn. I'm kind of feeling like a jerk so if anyone else is upset. I do apologize. Thanks to the rest of you guys who too time and shared your thoughts and photos of your coo knives.

You did very well on your auction, although you probably could have done better had you had a better title. The title wording on your auction makes one assume it was for a sheath only especially when your first picture is also of a sheath only with no knife. Also, I probably would have not had a BIN price and just put in a reserve, JMHO.

I agree. I was going to change the price. As i was in the middle of revising the auction. The customer did a "buy it now" so it sold. I didn't want to be unfair so i sold it as is. I gave all the information I learned from the forum and he was happy. Thanks again.

You got a good price, but, something like that is rare and seldom comes around. Especially the sheath. If you become interested in collecting Buck knives, I hope that you won't be sorry that you sold it. Preston

Ok, Lets set a standard for future operations and drift away from talking Ebay prices, Inform people of their discussion and take E bay talk to private mail. Ice was a little thin in places. But, everyone has written with some class for a good period of time and I appreciate the self regulation that has occurred. If anyone has issues feel free to express them to me. 300Bucks

I think we all have regretted selling a knife at some time.. I sure do!!! I will probably do it again too!! John :)

Well I got an email from the historian on my knife. This is what they said..
Hi Ken,

From our historian:

Yes, it’s a 122 Nemo and it looks to be in great shape. 68-72 is a rough timeframe

Great find!
