Buck Nighthawk Destruction Test Video Completed

Chiggie: I am very impressed with the Nighthawks durability. A great tactical knife for the money.

The only thing that wasn't answered, for me, with your video is how the variant with the serrations holds its edge. It's the one I own so I'm a little curious.

I'm not too worried though since if you get the serrated model you're probably more worried about using it in a tactical sense, which I am, and unless I go up against any mutant concrete monsters I think the blade will hold up just fine. I was just happy to know that it is strong enough to handle just about anything else I might care to use it for.

I have the serrated short Nighthawk. The serrated edges are very sharp and do well chopping wood. It seems to chop better than the straight edge. I'm with you Chiggie, it's good seeing what kind of punishment this knife can take. I'm sure I'll never put it through all that, but it meets my needs just fine.

noss4 ive ben watching you're vidio's lattely and really like what you're doing
but they do take a while to watch
this summary is perfect , can you post one for each knife on you're site?
i know that the world is suposed to be the judge but something like this shur would speed things up
can't wait for the busse tests
also any san mai or falken blades would be interesting to see as well as diferential heat treated blades
keep up the good work

president ebrmc: I have started posting a summary on currents tests as well as
all future tests.

I plan to test a Fallkniven A1

Thanks

Great Test.

I carried a Nighthawk for several years until I upgraded to my SOG SEAL 2K. The Buck was great because I knew if I ever jacked it up stateside I could just pickup a new one at any WalMart.

Obviously I never attempted to chop through conduit or split 4x4, but it chopped, dug, and pried everything I required it to.

BTW, the sheath got ditched before it ever made it to the field. I have always carried it in a Kydex Scabbard originally designed for a K-Bar

the knife isnt designed for chopping. Its no surprise that it sucks at it.

Next you should try battoning with an Benchmade Kitchen knife. :jerkit:

Since its designed for cutting and stabbing, why didnt you drop the chopping test and do longer more severe cuttting and penetration testing?

Great test!
You should test a Frost Mora Clipper and a Mora 2000. I love Moras but would be interested in how their hidden partial tangs holds up under abuse.

This is a military tactical knife not a kitchen knife. I have seen some debate on here about what the word tactical means. In my view it means anything goes. I put all my test knives through the same battery of tests with some
variation. Cutting,chopping,spitting etc.

The Buck Nighthawk was a Navy seal contender so I assume it was put through heavy testing like mine and much much more.

I'm glad you are considering getting a Nighthawk. It is an excellent durable knife. It performs well under stress. It is a great value for 35-39 dollars:thumbup:
