There are approximately 14 million hunters in the United States, and they spend billions of dollars every year on gear, from tree stands and tents to laser scopes and high-powered rifles.

Join MODERN MARVELS® for a look at the state of the art in hunting technology. A visit to the Annual Shot Show in Las Vegas showcases 24-hour cameras that track animals' movements, headphones that amplify natural noises but cut the explosive retort of a rifle, and compound bows made of aluminum and carbon fiber that are capable of shooting an arrow at speeds up to 300 feet per second. See how these tools evolved from the simple blades and bows deployed by our ancestors, and get the inside story on some of the traditional mainstays of the hunter's arsenal, including the Buck Knife and the Kentucky Rifle.

HUNTING GEAR shows how today's technology has given man incredible power of the rest of earth's creatures, power that has made our responsibility to preserve them even greater.

I can't find a listing for it; does anyone know how long ago this aired???

BTW: Thanks to Ms. di Marco for the heads-up! :D

Every so often, they run a 30 minute program on "The making of a Buck 110", almost never warn you when it's going to be on though, dang it!

I have never seen that segment start to finish. I usually get called half way through...My father was in the office the day they filmed, I was traveling. It was at least 2 years ago...maybe more.

I emailed an inquiry: I wasn't sure that the DVD I linked above was the 30 minute one that The Lost Confederate mentioned...it's only 50 minutes...not much time left for the Kentucky rifle... :(

It might be on another DVD/VHS...

That's what their calling the program, though it may not be what we're looking for.

That's it, I got the name wrong in my post, from what I have been told they follow a 110 through the factory as it's made and assembled.

EDITED: Ooops, that is NOT the show we want, read the discription, "The Making Of A Buck" that is airing 01/11 on The History Channel is about counterfeiting currency, not making knives.

From the description:

"Making a buck and faking a buck have always gone hand in hand as we see on a 2,600-year journey--from the earliest known counterfeiters of ancient Greece to the latest in anti-counterfeiting technology. In this 2-hour history of a crime as old as money itself and as current as the cash in your wallet, we capture the combination of seriousness and whimsy inherent in the subject through some of counterfeiting's most remarkable stories, schemes, and characters"

No, it's not. I found that one yesterday ["Making A Buck"], and saw that it wasn't the right one, so I didn't bother mentioning it. ;)

No reply to my inquiry yet.

Well, I got so busy the last couple of days that I didn't see the end of this thread and boy did I get a surprise last night went I sat down to watch The Making of A Buck 110 and it ended up being about money.

My wife thinks it's funny, and I do now, but I didn't at first.

I got a reply...sort of...

Thank you for contacting A&E Home Video and The History Channel!

Unfortunately, not every program we air on our networks is available
for sale. Most often this is due to rights clearance issues, but can
also be affected by other factors such as demand or price.

We apologize if a particular program you are interested in is not
available for sale at this time. Keep in mind that we often have
numerous programs devoted to similar subjects or viewpoints, so even
though a particular program is not for sale you can most likely find
quite a bit of programming devoted to the subject that is available for
sale and can be shipped directly to you today!

Visit us online at www.ShopAETV.com to search by subject, by show, and
even by keyword to find just what you're looking for!

I think that is from what the gamers call a "Bot"...

Well, that "Modern Marvels: Hunting Gear" DVD may have it...or it may not...I guess the question here is..."Do I feel lucky???"... :p

OK, I found it on the History channel website....

Yes...I found that, too...but it says 50 minutes...and The Last Confederate said the "Making of a Buck 110" was 30 minutes...the Shot Show, the Kentucky Rifle, and whatever else are 20 minutes???...

I'll have to have better intel than that... :grumpy:

Well, perhaps the original show was 30 minutes and this is a DVD that gives a bit of all three. I don't think they would put out a DVD with only 30 minutes on it would they?

You can put 2 hours on a DVD...but they want $24.95 for every 50 minutes??? :grumpy:

Also the program when it aired might have commercials, whereas the DVD may not.

That might account for a time difference.

I'll assume that was a typo? :p

No...bad eyesight...

(Although it does make more sense...there will never be a *last* Confederate...but many are lost)... :(

I'll go up and change it...
