Buck or Victorinox

Swisstool gets my vote, more utility than the Buck 110. However, both Victorinox and Buck have great warranties. So if either of them get broken you can send them in for repair.

Anyhow, how about getting the GF her own Victorinox, maybe a Hiker or Climber, under $20.00. Everyone you hike or camp with should have their own essential gear. In my opinion, a knife is essential gear.

Now my final thoughts, I am NOT trying to be an ass or start a fight with anyone. Also, I am married and am sympathetic to your willingness to please your GF. However, does it really matter what she thinks about which knife you take or how "cluttered" your belt is? For pity sake your camping or hiking, who cares? This isn't a Martha Stewart outing is it? And since when did "cool looking" factor into usefulness or practicality? Choose what you'll take based on what you will need, not what looks cool. If you will use or think you might need more than one, take more than one.

Good luck,
Mike

Nah, im the one who said i dont like a cluttered belt. Not so much cluttered but jeeze, a 110, compass and a swisstool all on one belt?! Lol, my pants would be down at my ankles. As far as bringing them, we are staying at her sisters house and she has two younger ones, 7 years old and 1 year old, so she doesnt want me bringing more than one knife so i can keep it on me and im not allowed to bring my guns! I also plan on going out to dinner, and again id have to keep the knife on me which means i dont want something that will look horrible or alarm people. but no, i understand what youre saying. if it were any other time she wouldnt have an issue with it i dont think, nor would i care. But with young ones around who can get into everything id rather be safer than sorry.

Yeah, I hear you. Maybe put a small padlock on your bag so the little people can't get into things. But it sounds like your factoring it all in. Good luck, but most of all ..... have a great time! :)

Thanks! yeah, i dunno these little ones these days can hot wire a car lol. Im just gunna bring my new benchmade vex i bought today and keep it with me. More comfortable, looks good and its easier to get to in my opinion. Found out today i need to send the vic back because the pliers shouldnt be as loose as they are, i tried some at the store when i bought my knife today, the same store i bought the swisstool from and they werent nearly as wiggly.
