Buck Paradigm Do you digm?

Smith & Wesson has been using MIM parts for many years now and despite all the predictions of disaster.......seems the guns are still shooting.

I don't like the idea any more than I like the powder steel knife blades, but overall, these new technologies seem to satisfy the users.

They may not always satisfy the mind, however.

Hi All,

Sky time to put this one back on top. Well now I can add my demented thoughts to this thread;).

Let me start by saying when I first heard tell of the Paradigm, I thought the knife would be just like the Micro-Tech bolster deployed knives. Then thought about it some more and decided I would have to see what Buck has here in the Paradigm as the Micro-Tech knives are Auto's not spring assisted knives? The production of these knives was delayed for months as Buck had to dial in their manufacturing process to get acceptable production/quality rates....the delay sent me in other directions and I never got one.

I had read many of the folks on the forums thoughts on the knife and I just never pulled the trigger. Well, now I have one (thanks Jeff) and have been EDCing it for about a month now. This knife moved the Tempest out of my EDC pocket carry routine.

The first few days were an adjustment as the Para is bigger and was in the way....I could not put my hand into my pocket while sitting as the bigger knife would pinch my fingers (took some time to get the feel for it)...LOL. The pocket clip on the Para is not as stiff as the Tempest so it's easier to get onto pants with a thicker pocket. Some folks here on BF said they did not like the bolster lock as it was harder to use. For me that could not be farther from the truth....the Para's mechanism is very easy to use and very easy to get used too (side note I thought the same thing about the tempest safety when I first got one). This knife is a true one hand user, I can both open it and close it with one hand. You can open the tempest with one hand, but you have to use two hands to unlock the tempest. I love every thing about the Para....size is right for me, blade shape is right for me, the Pro has the S30V, and I just love the assisted opening knives. Buck hit a home run with this knife....or should I say they won the Gold metal;)
