Buck paradigm

Thanks for the info BG. I did not get one of those discount cards from the club. Maybe I should ask for one. I get hit with state tax's + shipping on direct from buck orders, or I get hit with 2x shipping cost from dealers:o. That makes it cost more to my door and opens other options for the discount on-line stores.

Oh, I don't get taxes........you must be in CA or ID.

At least the shipping used to be free if you buy over $50......I'm assuming that's still the same. It wasn't hard to get over $50. They have all kinds of Buck products there.

I don't remember what the procedure was with the discount card, but it's probably worth it for you to get whatever you need to get into that BCCI discount page, though.

Back to the MIM parts.....

We went through this with Smith&Wesson when they went over to MIM parts.

People were sure that the MIM parts would wear out and be unreliable, etc.

I haven't heard any conclusive outcomes on that yet. Maybe since knives tend to get used more.......the owners of knives with MIM parts will be the first to discover a weakness if there is one.

So, we shall see.

I have one and I like it. It doesn't feel a bit cheap. I keep it my desk and play with that mechanism daily. I'll let everyone know if it develops any thing weird. (Or if something falls off....)

Don't be too hard on ole Matt guys,

He has Buck fever that started with the old 300s and 110s. He is just comparing new knives to those in his evaluation of heft and stoutness. I do the same when I handle some of the new ones. Just to be honest, I used my 40% privledge to get a Para Avid. I am a big supporter of the small Vantages (and have several, and even gave one to the mailman) and recently handled a Para at BPS. Since I needed to pick a knife for the wife to give me, I am trying one out.

I actually prefer my Vantages to the Paradigm but I do like the Para Pro that I still have and am not concerned with any quality questions. I pre-ordered an Avid way back when and was one of those guys that got one that squeeked out in early the first run.

I was visiting my father early this summer and I handed it to him and said "how do you like that?" He liked it a lot apparantly, because he put it in his pocket and it's now his "one and only" EDC pocket knife. He is crazy about it and loves the Sandvik 13C26 steel. He's old school about an absolute shaving sharp edge and he likes that this steel takes and holds exactly that type of edge.

I was glad to give him the knife but I now know to tell him "I'm not giving this to you, just want to know what you think" so he doesn't surprise me and keep the knife. :)
