Thats quiet a different choice. Queen is a very good knife, but id have the buck over it. I think queen is made in spain now along with h and r probably part of frost.
Queen is still made in Titusville, PA as far as I know. I'd go with the Buck. I like Queen just fine but their knives seem to come with an edge like a butter knife and mine have taken a lot of work to get sharp.
I've not held the Queen in my hand but having seen pictures and read comments. It has a thick cutting edge that must be ground thin during sharpening inorder for it to take a nice cutting edge. Which I've read is a bear for many sharpeners to deal with. The Buck 118 comes with better edge geometry. Plus, another benefit is Buck gives it's D2 a cryogenic soak during heat treat. Something not all mfg. do. Your call. Read well into the matter before ordering. DM
The spalded maple sure is pretty but I guess function over looks. I to have read Queen is very hard to sharpen. I don't know if still true of newer ones,. The Bucks thinner saber grind should be easier to sharpen
I did do some reading and decided not to buy a queen due to how hard they are to sharpen unless I run into a good deal on a used one that someone has already done the muscle on.
