Hello, I picked up my first two Buck knives today and don't know anything about them. I was hoping someone could tell me the type of steel used, and also if these are still in production. I like these two Bucks so well I will have to pick up a few more. Thanks for any help!

Those are really good looking !!!. I cant do any more than appreciate their beauty. Joe or Vern could surely ID the mfg year.

Pretty tough to nail it down very close without seeing the mark side of the blade, but the boxes tell me "early 90's" and the stag 105 was only made, as a production knife, from '89 to '93. This means that the knives should have year marks (which are posted on the BCC web page). Nice knives in any case and the 105 stag is a very good item ($150??) with the original box.

Vern,

Thanks for the lead about the excellent Buck web sight. I found the FAQs info, which showed my two Bucks to be made it '92. I also found the steel info I was looking for. The stag 105 was marked at $70 and I just couldn't put it down. The 118 was sitting next to it for $30. For all I knew these were curent production Bucks marked retail. These were the only two fixed-blade Bucks on the table or I would go back for their siblings!
