Buck sheath question

So I know Buck knives are covered by the famous FOREVER WARRANTY. What I'm wondering is: Are Buck sheaths also covered? I have one that has a crack in the belt loop. Not a cut or tear, an actual crack / defect in the leather. It's not broken all the way through yet, but it was a fairly expensive knife and I'd hate to get back to my truck some evening and find that its no longer on my belt!!

No they don't have my model of replacement sheath on their website. It seems kind of silly to buy a new sheath anyways. If sheaths aren't covered, the new one might arrive with the same defect as the old sheath, and I wouldn't be able to return it either.

How old is the knife? What model is it? Is it discontinued? need more information, also, did you e-mail Buck about it yet? I'm sure they would be able to help you with the problem.

It doesn't matter what model my knife is or how old it is. My question, which I was hoping folks here on the forum would know the answer too, is about Buck's warranty. And yeah I know I can email Buck directly, I just thought I'd ask here first. Thought I'd see what experiences other members have had regarding damaged / defective sheaths.

You shouldn't act like that, you want people to help you if they ask you a question you should answer it. Is it that hard to tell people the model your knife is and how old it is. If your looking for help be a little more repectful.

One of the reasons we ask what kind of sheath, many times one of us has some extras laying around that we might freely give away.

But if it doesn't matter, so be it.

And to my knowledge, in the years I have been here, no one has ever asked about warranty on a sheath.

Included in the Buck warranty, it says it covers parts, that may or may not mean sheaths, usually with warranties the sheaths are not covered however and you're better off buying a new one, however if the sheath isn't any good, you may want to search for a suitable replacement. For example, I didn't like the way the Buck 119 sheath rattled so I searched the rack at Dicks and found a replacement in a ten dollar Winchester knife that happened to be about the same size as a 119 and fit it perfectly. If the sheath came messed up and it's only a couple of weeks old, I'm sure Buck would replace that for you, but sheaths, especially leather sheaths wear out very quickly with regular use so they are not generally covered unless there is a separate waranty listed, there is not for Buck so I'd have to assume that normal wear and tear on the sheath would not be covered. You would need to show the damaged one for a better answer than that, or just e-mail Buck, you'll usually get a response back within a day so it's probably worth while just to ask them. Also if I knew what kind of knife it was I could more than likely recommend a good replacement for it as I do it quite frequently.

If I don't want to post what model my knife is online I'm not going to. If you don't like my posts feel free not to reply to them.

I wasn't asking for a hand out. Just asking a pretty simple question. If you don't like my posts, so be it.

Just some advice for you my friend.. If you put a thread up here on BF expecting members to extend you some common courtesy , it would be wise if you returned the favor.. People here will go out of their way to help a fellow forum member, but they will also go out of their way to cast out those not deserving... This is NOT a threat in NO way, it is just simple and friendly advice... Best of Luck to you...

When I first started posting here at BF more than one person replied to my posts calling me a troll. People tried to bully me into changing my opinion about Chinese made Buck knives. I stuck with my opinion.

The argument in this thread seems to have started because a member was repeatedly asking me what model my knife is. I choose not to say. I won't be bullied into putting information online that I don't want to share. If that makes people unhappy their just going to have to deal with it.

I didn't ask you for your home phone number or credit card information, I asked you for the knife model. Most people with a knife problem wouldn't think twice about giving a little more information about the knife in order to recieve better help. This leads me to believe one of two things, you either don't want help (which I have already given you, twice) with solving your problem, or there really is no problem. Either way, these are not reasonable responses to be given for a reasonable request, in my experience, for the most part, the people on this forum have been very good about giving advice on exactly this type of issue, going out of their way, in their free time, to help other knife lovers with whatever issue or question they may be having. Now, if there really is a problem with this knife, and you really do want help solving it, more specific information will be needed, for any of us to give any more specific help, it's just that simple. Otherwise, I'd suggest letting the issue die.

Just because he asked for helpful information does not mean he is trying to bully you. As far as you being a troll, you sure sound like one to come here ask for help, then get belligerent when people ask for more information. Even though you weren't asking for a handout, people here are great and generally want to help when they can. They just need info to do that. Obviously you don't want the help of those here, so it would be best to just contact Buck directly.

And, should you choose to contact Buck, you might try a more pleasant attitude toward them. They might even ask you (God Forbid) for the model number and the age of your knife. I am sure you will get farther.

Telechronos:):):)

to know what model, style whatever, because another member might have had similiar issues, maybe he'd been in the same boat as you, it's a forum full of knife nuts c'mon;) it's like talking shop.
But you are correct in stating that you don't have to tell anybody anything:(
just not as much fun for anybody that way.
If it don't agree with ya being on here or the people are less than courteous or helpful then what good's it doing?
as has been stated email Buck

Wou know, no one is going to make you tell us any information, but don't be an idiot about it. You come here wanting help you don't have to be a jerk to the people that try to help you. I aggree with a post here that says either you really don't want help or there is nothing wrong in the first place. Either way stop being a jerk to people.

When people are trying to help you its probably best you not treat them like crap.

Thank you

Are you perhaps reluctant to state which model because it's made in China?;) That's the only reason I can think of right off the top of my head.
