Buck Sodbuster?

I made mine from 440C bar stock mfg. from Carpenter by their clean vacuum remelt process. Then heat treated to 58-59 rc. Given a full hollow grind with a mirror polish. It is a fine skinning blade. I've always liked the sod buster shape as it utilizes a full belly design. DM

Very nice job with it. I agree with your sentiments.

I've enjoyed how a fairly boring post turned into a pretty interesting discussion about knives. I'm the only "knife guy" around here so I always appreciate the conversations on the forum.

If I show a knife to my wife and start talking about it she just says it looks pretty much like the other one you showed me. Which does facilitate bringing more knives in I guess. Kinda like my guns. Carry two out and three in. :)

They never understand the subtleties, do they? :D I've heard "Don't you already have one like that?" more times than I can count.

If it were jewelry it would be clear.

My wife is different as she can see exactly what we're talking about. Her artistic mind and eye picks up on the beautiful curving lines of a blade and it's function. I don't bring out several knives for a comparison. I can draw out one blade and this spawns an hour of conversation & encouragement on how I should go about grinding it. Then I go to my shop and work it. DM
