I`m looking for information about the Buck/Strider 888 solution? Does anyone have any experience with this knife? Any advice or opinions are welcome. Thanks.

There was a well written article in TK several issues back using the Solution and 2 Striders. Cant rember which issue it was.

I have one of the old flat grind versions. It's a very heavy knife for its size, but the heft is confidence inspiring. Good broad blade with the high grind is a good cutter---the new ones with the hollow grind are supposed to have thinner edge geometry, which I think is a good thing, but then grind only goes half way up the blade, so I don't know how they are at slicing through thick stuff. Anyway, they're typical to the Strider mentality, of a knife that cuts well if not superbly and is extremely tough and durable. The handle scales may need a little work to get them flush with the tang. Most of these I've seen overhang a bit at the bottom.

I have one each of the flat grind and the newer hollow grind version. I like the heft and feel of the hollow grind version slightly better. Since I'm also a G-10 fan, the handle suits me very well.

One of the design features that I really appreciate is the fact that the bottom curve of the guard does not extend below the heel of the blade. This allows the entire blade, including the heel, to cut on a large, flat surface - like a kitchen knife.

Right now its my favorite small fixed blade.

Could one of you folks who has both the flat and hollow ground blades post pics of each or direct me to same?
OK, found a picture on bladeart.com that appears to be the flat-ground style.
Which would you say has higher tip strength? I'm guessing, just looking at the grind lines, that the hollow ground version is slightly heavier. Is this correct?

Thanks,
