Buck Strider Buck® Police Knife

Just ordered mine. I've been looking for one of this general model, except I was about to pay this much for one that's 420HC. Thanks for the heads up!

Thanks for the deal! Just ordered 3. Sell the other two and I get a awesome knife and another yet to be determined awesome knife!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again.

All sold out. You snooze you lose.

I would check again. I was browsing for other things over the past couple days and happen to see it switch back and forth between out of stock and in stock for the 882 SBT

Well I ordered mine sometime not much earlier than this thread got started and finally got around to opening it all up.

I bought this one as a spare to the other Strider Buck Police and the Military(actually one of my cheapo favs). This one is a little odd though.

The blade grind on the left and right are uneven with the right side grind being higher than the left.

I've emailed Buck with pics to verify if this was within normal specs. None of my other Bucks ever had that.

Pics of grind discrepancies for those interested:

No wonder they were only $50 - probably factory seconds. Although it probably won't have any effect on actual usage, that sucks...

Cabela's is not Sportsman's Guide. They don't sell factory seconds. If they ever sell anything that is not 100% factory perfect they clearly label it as such. ( They once sold reconditioned air pistols that were labellled as such)

Asymmetrical design has been big in canoes for a long time.

Maybe Buck is now making asymmetrical knives.

That's one weird-looking blade.

Well I have some knives that are intentionally asymmetric.

Greg Lightfoot for example uses asymmetric grinds as well.

BRKT openly admits that minor discrepancies are not something they really pay attention to so long as it works well.

The 882SBT was never designed to be asymmetric in any update as far as I know. I have another (slightly older) 882SBT and a SBMF which have symmetrical grinds.....so........

Again, I don't think that from a using factor, it'll make much difference...just odd aesthetically and visually.

Called cabelas and they confirmed "All sold out". So which one of you buckaholics who bought extra 882's gonna start listing the surplus ones in the for sale/exchange section?? I have a NIB Hartsook and NIB Xtract to trade.:(

As an FYI -
I bought two of these from Cabelas and they're perfect!
Was using one of those coyote brown handled 889s (420HC blade) as my EDC and 'beater' knife, but when I found out about these at Cabelas, had to get two.
Now, this one is my weekend EDC knife and "around the house work knife".
Great blades and they definitely hold an edge longer than the 420HC (although I must admit that the 420HC blade - on the plain edge section - seems a bit 'toothier' and cuts better on smooth items). Both sharpen up rather easily.
If you've got one - definitely USE IT! Great folders and a cheaper way to get a 'flavor' of a Strider SnG...

Regards,
Mike

I carried the Tarani 882 for the first time today.

Off the top of my head I used it to; uncrate a patio door I installed, cut 6 feet of carpet back that was in the way of the new door, and dug out some rotted wood at the corner of the door opening. When I got home I pruned off a couple of small branches of wisteria over the BBQ, and checked the T-bones on the Q for the proper degree of bloodiness.

Nice knife, carries well, sharp as 'ell.....oh, and those "bumpy notches", those are for cake decorating...:D
