I would REALLY appreciate some help here. I bought a "Buck Strider" off of ebay. It was actually a mistake bid, didn't even mean to do it. After I bid and won, I didn't want to cop out and not pay, so I payed the 20 bucks and got the knife. I would like to send my pics of the knife to someone and have them either post them up here or make a deteremination if my knife is the real thing or a knock off. It is a solid knife, but there isn't one buck strider I've seen that looks like this one. If it is fake, they did a good job making a pretty heavy duty knife. Anyway, any help would be much appreciated. I am also attaching a link of a video I did of the knife on youtube.

Thanks in advance!!

Cole, my Buck Strider 889 has the logo down where you mention in the video, not where yours is, and mine also has a thumbstud. But who knows??? For $20, it's probably a good knife, but of course you always want to get what is advertised, not something else.

Yeah. It was a mess and I made an attempt at getting out of it, but it wasn't worth the hassle. I feel it's a good knife for 20 bucks. The liners are thick and it locks up very solid. Blad is pretty sharp too.

Buck is invesgating a flood of knock off striders and other 'buck' knives,,,
if it is too good a deal it may not be a deal
that is the problum with ebay..
if it is not a real buck you can turn in the seller to ebay and they may put a hold on his sales...

Here are two 889 blades:

Here is a stamp you would see on a 889SBMF (Pack Rat was probably referring to this "other side"):

All markings would be stamped. Not painted.

The lack of thumb studs would be a concern for me. On a genuine Buck/Strider the thumbstuds act as a blade stop when the blade is open. I wonder how secure the blade would be without them.

10-4 Larry. One of mine is a Ho 2005 and the other (pictured above) is a Chicken Track 2007.
Is your's also stamped "SB.4"? Both of mine are.

These two just have the normal front stamp and the HO 05' back stamp. One is OD and the other is CB.

I have seen you guys talk about that SB.4 but have never bothered to ask what that is about?

Just noticed that the barcode on the boxes both have a date 08-04-05

The SB.4 refers to the 4th Strider collaboration that Buck produced. So if I recall correctly they are something like this:

880 = SB.1
881 = SB.2
890 = SB.3
882/887/889 = SB.4

The Buck/Strider knives do not have the model number on them anywhere (not sure how the 888 Soultion fits in all of this).

Look at the way the pocket clip attaches also, 3 screws, curved around the pivot and tip down carry.

I've seen other striders with tip down carry (but maybe those are fake too). I'm pretty sure this is a knock off, but for $20, it's a very solid knife. No biggie to me, I was just a little curious. Thanks for all of the input everyone!
