Buck made 450 of these. After the Strider / Buck colaberation ended . Buck had many left over sets of the strider g-10 grips. Buck doesnt like to waste anything especially expensive g-10 handles. They came up with this knife. I bought mine for $95 at the post falls Buck Factory sale when they first released them. The next Buck factory show at the greyhound park the second time around the cost was $50 so I stocked up and have one for each of my kids and for family and friends etc. This will be a very expensive knife one day. The sheath that came withh it was from the pig sticker 651. Many people didnt even know this cool 890-650 build out knife existed. My wife for my 40th birthday bought me another one at the Factory Store. CJ and Chuck signed mine!Signing it Happy "40th" Birthday. This 890/650 build out knife is very special to me as my Birthday is the same as Chuck. Thanks again guys if you are reading this.
I named it The "Night Strider". Joe Houser thought that was a kick I think he was just humoring me . The balance is awesome. I have recently sent 4 of them overseas with my family and friends in the sandbox. I told them all too bring them back of course with them safey( by Gods grace) and I would have the knives refurbished and signed. So God willing soon CJ and Chuck I will get these 4 to you.
I have two of them. Both from the factory sales. First sale I went to they were $50. Second time they were $40. If there was a sale before those two where they charged more I must have missed it. Afterwards they started showing up at guns shows in the $100-$200 range.
Buck's strategy of not wasting anything makes a lot of sense to me, Dave.
Some of the Strider designs I've seen are just too far off the wall for my taste. But the Nighthawk with a Strider G-10 handle seems like a natural. And the price I paid for mine was at the lower end of what the dealers are charging for them at the gun shows. So no complaints here.
I received notification that my knife has shipped. I should receive it shortly.
My Night Strider arrived today. I can see why Flatlander likes his so much. It's definitely a heavy duty, tactical knife. And while I haven't handled any of the other Buck Strider fixed blades, I doubt I'd like them any better than this one.
The knife it most reminds me of in my current collection is my Entrek Force Recon:
I have a large tanto tactical knife with a tyvek sheath the markings on it are Paul Bos's logo and then SB5 it is all black solid knife with what appears to be a tyvek handle.
I can send a picture. I'm looking for the manufacture which I believe to be the Buck/Strider collaboration and maybe an idea of what it is worth
From the small picture I am pretty sure your Knife is a Buck/ Strider tanto.
The Buck Knife model is 8090TX, handles are G-10. Great knife.
worth $100-$150 to the right guy maybe.
