I just picked one up from TADGEAR. Posted my initial review on Knife review & testing board. Can someone link it to here? thanks

My SBT arrived today too!!!Thanks again to Josh over at Buck Tactical...Overall Fit and finish of the knife is excellent!! Feels great in the hand in any position. I was kinda skeptical about the zytel scales, but the texture on them has just enough bite for a firm grip. Blade is beefy and stout, although the liner appears somewhat thin the lock-up on this thing is rock solid..zero blade play..Then again my comparison on the liner is that of my AL Mar SERE and Buck/Strider 880 tanto that I usually carry on duty. Overall fine blade and a well thought out collabo, Im definitely satisfied with my purchase. This will be my duty knife so I'll get back once I put it to work.. Just makes me even more anxious to get that SNG...

STOP IT!

You guys are making the wait for my Buck Strider SBT all that much harder to take.

I am jealous!

Seriously great review and I am happy for you guys.

Oh, I see. Guess it's ok in stainless. If Strider/Tarani tested it, it should be fine.

Thanks for the info!

Wait, the liners are thinner than that of the 880's? Why is that ok? Biogon, you mention something about stainless steel, presumably vs. titanium... Are SS liners stronger than in titanium? Thanxs for the input, looking forward to seeing some more reviews.

Take care.

I read about Strider heat treating the tips of the AR/GB liners so they would be of equal hardness compared to the blade (to reduce wear and all). Do the SBT liners go through this process?

Also, what is the weight of the SBT?

Thanks.

They dont need to do that with the SBT liners, because they are heat treated steel.

Hey guys,

The SBT is a Police Utility Knife. It is not designed to be the folding prybar that the 880/ 881 are. It has thinner heat treated stainless liners that are much harder and stiffer than Ti.

The 880 is a bigger/ stronger knife.

The SBT is a utility knife.

Hope that helps,

Josh

Will the Buck SBT be available throught normal Buck dealers?

They will be available through normal Buck channels very soon. Strider currently has them in stock, they're our partner so they get the fist shot on our collaborations.

Check with your dealers or local Buck retailers for availability.

I'll be gettin' one of these beauties for my BIG EDC.
Was gonna get a new CUDA Dominator,,looks like the Buck Strider
SBT will be a better choice for me,,,,,,,we'll see.

It seems to me... That if this knife is not meant for hardcore use, they should take the name "strider" off of it...

I don't know, perhaps I am jumping the gun here. I preordered the blade not knowing it was a linerlock (kicking myself for not doing the research). I really, really, really don't trust linerlocking mechanisms. Wel... I suppose, I have experienced great service from Buck so far (owned several 881's), so I think I will hold my tongue until mine comes in (tommorrow; sept. 9). I'll let you know how it holds up.

Take care.

MM,

You might check out the Dom or some reviews before you write her off so quick.

Just got mine and she's one of my faves.

I contacted Strider directly today, and was told the price for law enforcement was $135 for the Tarani (sp?).

I was under the impression (a post I read) that law enforcement and military got a discount...and the TAD gear price is the same as the Strider LEO price?

Thats ok though, I don't expect a discount, just thought there was one. Still a great knife that i'll have to get. I wonder if I have to contact Buck directly?
