Just wondering if anyone has enough knowledge about this knife to recommend BG42 over ATS34. I have many knives with ATS34 blades but no experience with BG42. Any comments would be helpful.

A search of the archives should shed some insite in to the properties of each steel.
I doubt the adverage user could detect a great deal of difference in the two steels.
As with any steel for cultery,heat treat is a large part of the picture.
The Buck Strider BG42 blades are treated by Bos who has an excellent reputation for quality work.
This is an outstanding knife in either steel.
