Buck/Strider...

I like Buck fixed blades, but the 110 I tried became loose in all directions doing very light cutting, in fact I've tried lots of folders for the exact same task and none became loose besides the 110. I also had a 880 Buck/Strider that I never used, but it just felt weak to me and while it looked tough I could make it flex easily while locked, so I sold it to someone that collects Bucks.

Bought it new from Ebay... dangerous I know... but It was made in 2011 according to my box

I may be wrong but I don't think Buck was making the Strider Collaboration knives anymore by 2011. It could be you bought a counterfeit knife and that particular version seems to one of the knives they like to reproduce and sell as originals. You can post pics of in the Buck forum and the gurus over there will be better able to provide you information on whether or not you have an original Buck/Strider or a counterfeit.

I just checked the catalog archives on the BCCI website and there are no Buck/Strider knives listed after 2007. If your 889 box is dated 2011 it's pretty unlikely that it's the real deal. What is the date code on the blade? It's possible that Buck could have done a build-out in 2011 with left over parts but without photos and further research you can't really say one way or the other with any certainty.

As much as some will enjoy typing out condescending replies about your character because you did a spine whack and didn't buy an Opinel, I could have told you the Buck Strider folder was garbage. Now I'm going to need nomex underwear and take it further, because my Vantage and 110's are/were both pretty junky too.

Thin liners and tiny little internal stop pins are a recipe for a knife that fails easy, and wears out incredibly quick if you actually use it. That's putting quality control issues I've experienced aside too.

I am one of those who, I will admit, enjoyed it (Hi there. !) although it wasn't an insult of character. The OP is probably an awesome guy...spine whacking is simply not a proper way to test a knife's primary functions. It is akin to testing a vacuum cleaner by judging its performance as a fan.

LOL What?! "Let me deride others for making condescending comments. Up next, a condescending comment of my own! Bah-dum-TSSHHH!!"

Genius.

The 880 series were the only good Buck/Strider collaboration folders.
