Buck Tins : Sell Un Opened?

I have several of the Buck tins from many different years. I am looking to sell some, but the plastic wrapping makes them hard to package and increases shipping costs. My son sold one on the bay a year ago and the shipping costs was the main question. I know most of us here are deal seekers, and I may offer them here in the correct section. I am wondering two things: Is it a must to keep them sealed or is opening them from the plastic to reduce shipping costs better? I see the tins going for $55-130 on the bay. My son sold his for $60+$15 in shipping costs. What do you think the selling price should be? One of two cabinets full.....

I dont collect the tins......have no idear...but if I was to start id prefer the unopened sealed ones, if i was gonna pay top dollar.

in general on any product collected....... older stuff in unopened sealed packages sells for far more than opened or used items.

Yes I agree they would sell for more unopened. I may try a local gun/knife show to see if they might sell there

What Jesse says is true, especially about highly collectible items. These tins were produced in great numbers and most are/have been opened and the knives used.

For myself I like to fondle items. I find tins and boxes cumbersome, difficult to store and don't offer much satisfaction fondling.

Doubt that this helps you much and so much depends on the buyer and the price.

Well these look to be the Walmart Buck Christmas tins. These were delivered to the stores on Pallets for the first ones issued, the prices were $30 in store. There were many left over after Christmas and the prices dropped to $8 per tin. These are standard Bucks USA made for the 110, & 112 some had laser blade tattoo's, some had unique blade stamps. IMHO I would not pay more than $55 for the 110s or 112s. The 300 series knives were sold for less about $20 and are China made as well as all the tins. Note: Walmart learened from ordering to many of the first ones, and ordered less on the years that followed (some stores did not even sell them).

To me they are cool, but not valuable. Sorry sir, you asked for my thought and thats what I gave you.

jb4570 I agree and while not too collectable the Ebay crowd is willing to pay a bit more that the readers here tend to. The mirror polished ones I actually like a lot. Mine are all the Walmart 110 ( and one year 112) tins and the Dicks/Cabela's Boone and Crocket. Cheapest I paid was $20, but I have been a member here for years and I remember the talk of them going as low as $8. That all said, prices are up a lot now. I mostly want to get rid of them taking up space, but with new 110s going for $60 at Walmart ( and more else where), I will see what they get on the bay....

The Mirror polished ones may interest some of the Custom guys as easily changed scales and file work (didn't those have NK frames?). If you can move them on some of the Buck forums for free, you will save fees and taxes.

Wow, lucky seller and crazy buyer. $140 for that is just insane. Standard knife with a billboard blade in a cheap China tin. They made alot of those and came with 4 different blade etches. The only crazier 110 is the "SUPREME" knife. A skateboard shop as I recall with lifestyle brand merchandising. A standard 110 with a decal on the handle. I've seen them asking $300 to $600 on eBay and not always new.

too much money out there......

Grandma was right "A fool and his money are soon parted" I DID offer $40.00 for one of the 'Supreme" 112"s a few years ago. I thought it would be hilarious to have one after seeing the ridiculous asking price.

Quick question on this as my GF listed a 112 in the tin on the bay. A new 110 is $60 at Walmart now and much more elsewhere. The tin 110s and the one year 112 are special editions. As stated above they have sold for over $100 on the bay. I know we are all deal seekers here ( including me!). I may list a few here too. What is a fair price to ask? Forget they costs $20+ years back as a gallon of gas was cheap then too !!! Give an honest opinion please. Thanks !

If you're trying to squeeze every last dollar out of them, put them up for auction.
Tho you are obviously going to flood the market with them so that decreases the value.

What's the objective?
Be rid of them or profit?
You have so many you cannot do both simultaneously.

The perfect flipper "catch 22".

Good luck.

I personally want to get rid of them, But my son has a new baby girl and I want him to make some money off of them. I normally look to get back what I paid often and maybe few dollars more, but I see some going high and as I said the new ones are all $60+ these days
