I would say that a price of $150 for the checkered version w/ box & papers in mint condition would be an outstanding deal. Realistically you can probably only find a price like that if a store has old inventory. Otherwise you should expect prices between $225 and $275. All just my opinion of course.
One thing to keep in mind if your looking for a user. Get one of the overruns. THey are the same knife, from a functional standpoint. Same blade steel. The only diference is the handle is not checkered.
I have found, through extensive testing, that the checkered handled version cuts exactly the same as the smooth handled version. Although i don't know why.

As a dealer I recently paid plus/minus $375 for a set of overruns - the 119 Special, the 192 Vanguard and the 110 Folding Hunter. I probably paid at the high end. But even given an imaginary wholesale price of $325 for that set, I would say that $165 is reasonable for a single piece. After advertising overhead, financing my inventory, maintaining my website and paying federal self-employment taxes & health care for my kids, I am about breaking even at that price. Makes it hard to stay in the game for small (teenny-tiny) timers like me. But that wasn't your question. To the point - if you find one for $165 to use or collect you are doing fine IMHO.
Hi,you may try Dennis Wright in La Mesa,Ca. Igot my vangard overrun from him,and couldnt be happier with the knife and Dennis. He posts here quite often,so his email is attached to his postings.
