Buck Vantage Pro - First Impressions

Could it be that you are a bit rough with the knife? Modern day blade steels don't chip easily. AND WHEN WILL KNIFE OWNERS FINALLY LEARN HOW EASILY THE BLADE CAN BE CENTERED BY ADJUSTING THE BLADE PIVOT SCREW. OR SIMPLY SEND YOUR KNIVES BACK TO BUCK FOR A WARRANTY ADJUSTMENT. STOP WHINING ABOUT SUCH A MINOR ADJUSTMENT.

Why is it that when a person has nothing useful to add to a discussion, they resort to being snotty?

Friend, lets be reasonable here.

Early Buck Vantages had a problem with the tip of the knife contacting the handle when closed. The chipping isn't his fault.

Also, while the blade can be centered via the pivot screw, doing so may not allow the flipper to work as intended. If they can adjust it via warranty, perhaps it would not be unreasonable to expect that the adjustment could come straight from the factory when we buy them, no?

I just picked up an Avid, which is a 10/10 in my books. The blade centring wasn't as perfect as I like, so I loosened the pivot screw and jammed folded paper into the smallest gap between the blade and the liner. When the blade firmly touched the opposite liner, I tightened up the pivot and the centring was much improved. As a final step, I gradually backed off the pivot tension until the knife was 'flipable'.

Hey bootcher man here's a protip: It seems that your caps lock key is stuck in the on position. You might want to have that looked at because it's really really obnoxious. Kthanks.

thanks for the nice review, i heard that they have fixed the offcentering problem in there later productions, do you have the production date of the one that you just bought?

I just received my 342 small Vantage Pro directly from Buck and the the centering and F&F are excellent.

So it seems that the later production Vantage Pros have the F&F issues squared away?

Seems like one helluva knife for the price.

Is the small still useful, or a bit too small? There doesn't seem to be a big difference between the large and small sizes.
