Buck Vantage Pro.... What a knife.

I had to talk myself out of not sending Buck enough to round it up to retail price because I felt guilty about getting this much knife for so little! After several months I'm still shocked!

postfallsidaho the Max Bucklite is a nice knife and very sharp but is quite different from the Vantage. I do recommend the Bucklite as you get thumbstuds and a nice clip with a sharp edge. I think Buck does a great job on providing a sharp edge with excellent edge geometry(good profile edge) made to cut. I am rethinking that the hollow grind may make for the best cutter and slicer. I bought my first buck back in 1977 and have used a lot of knives over the years. I have been using Spydercos and Benchmade but I have acquired some Bucks a long the way. I really like the Vantage and Bucklite and I think Buck gets a lot of sharp out of 420HC and am looking forward to see how the S30V holds up on the Pro Vantages I have. These knives have a good feel in the hand and I have used them for a little wood carving/whittlin making toothpicks it looks like. I have been surprised to see how many expensive knives from other makers just skip or slide off woods like Pine or Basswood. If they slice wood well they will perform well at other tasks in the field. Also, they slice cardboard nicely and have zipped through some half inch rope without losing there edge. Buck knows how to heat treat and they have Paul Bos as resident expert although he has retired but I think I read he has trained someone for 10 years to take his place at Buck. And the Buck 2000 edge is a much better edge. I am sorry as I did not mean to ramble on so but I am impressed with these Buck knives.

I have the Buck Vantage Select in the small size (420 HC) and its my EDC carry knife along with my Leatherman Blast. This is the perfect pocket knife for me. I have over a Hundred knives and I have lots of money tied up in them but that little Select just does the trick. Great knife and Great job Buck.
