Ok fellas, as I mentioned before, it's time for me to go the Buck route.
Purchased a traditional 112 and two ecolites this Month.

Am waiting for a couple diffrent 110's to arrive in the mail.
I like the looks of the Vantage Pro, but have been reading posts as well as some u tube videos. There seemed to be some quality issues i.e. un centered blades and liner locks too advanced.

Do you feel these issues have been resolved as most of these statements were made back in 09?

Thanks

Dave

Yes, unless you get some old stock(oct 2009 and earlier-from memory so someone correct me if I'm off), you should be good to go. Mine had the issues but I think I got mine around Aug 09. IIRC

I have four Vantage Pro's (the large one). The earliest one is marked 08/17/09 on the box and the blade is off centered so that it just barely touches the liner. The lock though, centers almost perfectly when the blade is deployed.

Two are marked 12/16 and 12/17/09 and the fourth is marked 01/26/10. All three of the blades center almost perfectly and the lock is just left of center giving room for possible wear.

It appears that the earlier issues have been addressed and corrected.

i would be over this knife, but it is only offered in the tip up style? correct me if i'm wrong.

Thanks guys,! I'll look for the newer dates at Bass Pro this Saturday.
Hopefully they have 0/10 inventory :D

I don't think there's any way to change to tip down carry.

I'm just curious, what's the objection to tip down? I just tried the Vantage and a Taclite in my pocket. The Taclite is tip down carry and when I pull it out, I have to change it's position end for end in my hand in order to deploy it. The Vantage on the other hand, comes out in the right position for deployment.

I picked up my Vantage Avid at Bass Pro this past Saturday, the blade
on it, and the Pro that I looked at were both centered perfectly. My lock
doesn't center on the blade, but it is over the whole width of the lock.
It should be good to go.
BTW, I'm not sure if their prices vary by local, but the one by me is
cheaper on the Pro then anyplace I found on the Internet, at 49.99.
About the cheapest I've seen it on line was about 53.00
Regards Sonny

Oh yeah, my box was marked 04/14/10

Thanks for the info Sonny  If there not in a bubble pack, I should be able to see if things line up.

I have a large and small Vantage Pro and they are centered and the lock up is very good. Both were made in 12-09 large and small 3-10. These are outstanding knives, especially for the price.

dc...........Mine came in a regular yellow Buck box, IMO like they
should. I looked at both models in the showcase and they were
lined up perfectly, and when he got mine, I opened the box and mine
was the same. I think the issues are over.
Regards Sonny

Bass Pro in Waukeegan Illinois had a couple of avids and pros for $39 and 49. I snapped up a pro and it had no problems.

I've seen Pros as low as $38 BIN on the auction site. As I said I had pretty much all the issues but they werent that big of a deal once I set my mind to get over it. I did send mine back recently cause I was sending a few others in and figgered it'd enjoy the ride and professional tweek. Looking forward to getting it back and seeing how it turns out-I'm 100% confident it will be perfect.

Wow, for the large one? I thought I scoured everywhere. I saw the Avid a day or so ago for 28,and the Pro for 39 and then found out they were the small ones.
I wouldn't mind buying from some of these Internet people but some of them get like 9 or 10 dollars for shipping!!!! I really have to watch sometimes, I find a good price and then the shipping puts it way over. Tax here runs 8
dollars on a 100 so the knife has to be about 15 dollars cheaper then I can buy locally or it doesn't pay to wait a week for it to arrive.....Boy I hate being a Gotta have it now guy:D

I here ya, I got mine for 47 which was as good as I could find way back then and shipping was a stiff 8 bucks. Only a couple months later prices came down, dont know about shipping cause I had one already and was off to the next must have quest:D

I got five of them for $38 to 42, but that was before the price went up a few months back! Now, it seems like $50 to 55 is the best price around......

I have the Vantage Avid and plan to get the Pro.When I got my Avid close to 6 months ago I noticed that in the closed position the blade centered toward the logo side of the knife and have to admit I was kind of disappointed.Upon close inspection I found the blade doesn't actually touch the liner. After using it awhile I realized it wasn't a problem at all.The liner lock puts a slight pressure on the left side of the blade when in the (closed) position causing the blade at the tip to be close to the right side of the liner. When the blade deploys that slight pressure moves the liner lock under the base of the blade.(SNAP):thumbup:The open blade is locked tight as a drum and straight as an arrow!:) It opens quick and what at first, I thought was a problem was merely a great design IMHO.I'm so impressed with my Vantage,I plan to buy a few more:D

I got mine early - the last of March '09. The Buck label states 03-12-09, so it was pretty fresh. A spritz of Breakfree with CLP made it into a perfect flipper in short order. The blade was pushed slightly askew by the liner lock, leaving the tip maybe 55%, at most, across the opening - where it still is today, over a year ago. It's position seemed related to the pivot screw's tightness, too - which was returned to the 'sweet spot' - the position which just permitted efficient 'flipping' - hasn't been touched since then - over a year ago. Additionally, the liner lock was just fully involved within the blade's widthwhen new - again, as it is today. I guess I got a 'good' one.

As to sharpness, it still cuts quite well, although it no longer shaves arm hair. I EDC-ed it for quite a while - even with a myriad of Benchmades, etc. The 347 has been useful - used for everything from breaking down boxes to trimming a sandwich - it's a workhorse. If you want that blade in a fantastic frame-lock of Ti, find a 172 Mayo TNT. You could have a pocket full of 347's for that cost, of course.

Hi guys, I'm new here. Got my OCD focused on knives all of a sudden. Just re sharpened everything around the house and picked up a buck vantage pro with misaligned blade and alpha hunter folder. Getting a couple swamp rats too with any luck.

I searched a lot online for information on how to realign the vantage blade. Couldn't find any details but figured it out. Thought I'd share, hope it works for you too, pi$$ easy. Get a torx T-6. With knife closed, loosen only the main pivot screw nearest the blade. The blade is now free to slop around. Hold blade in the center or shim with something like post-it notes and re tighten. It may wander to one side during tightening so re loosen and this time hold or shim it off center in the opposite direction ot the wander. This time when you tighten it will line up better. Repeat till perfect or at least pretty much great.
