Buck, you wonderful knife manufacturer you, Are you crazy?!

I just found out that pretty much all of the Vantages, at least in the furrent form are done. This is craziness! I know the line did have a few minor issues but i personally never had any with mine really. I've been alternating a small vantage pro and a large pro for years now. They are my absolute go to knives for most things.

I tried to give the spitfire a shot, nope.

I just hope that they plan on redesigning the vantages, especially the pro. It was a great simple design, it had a great blade shape and grind. Under the hope of them possibly reinventing the vantages I'll give a few suggestions on what i would do to modify it.

I'll use the Vantage Pro as my example.

Blade- keep the S30V for sure, I would make the flipper a tiny bit bigger and the blade 3", right smack in the middle of the two sizes.

Handle- I would make the G10 the Dymondwood instead (I switched mine out and just like the warmth of the wood and the classic look more). Instead of the relatively thin liners, I would keep one thin liner and make the other side a framelock. That would be awesome!

Clip- Nothing what so ever.

It wouldn't be too much modification really, just the lock change. I know there is a big craze about titanium framelocks now but I personally wouldn't mind one out of steel. The handle ergonomics are good to go. So yeah, just the blade length and the lock type.

Buck, If you're listening...If you make that model of knife, I would never buy another one ever. I would just buy 3 of the new ones and that's be it. 2 extras so i could have them as backups.

Not sure What the name could be.....Maybe the Buck Vantage Culter (latin for knife)... I dont know..

Anyone have any thoughts?

Yeah, saw that one. Blade steel is not as good, and it looks like the are doing a dymondwood inlaid into zytel. Crappy! Why would they royally screw up a great knife. This sucks.

There is a whole page of Vantages in the 2014 catalog :)
The Pros get G10 S30V
the Selects get either nylon, or nylon with a dymondwood inlay, and 420HC

Woohoo! I was wrong! Awesomeness! That seriously makes me happy! I hope knifecenter is wrong and the other places I saw it were wrong too.

Though, I do still think a framelock version would be cool. Regardless of blade size changes.

Someone should tell Knifecenter to fix that.

If you check Buck's website, there are still bunches of the varieties listed as available.
I bet you could have your local dealer order them, or you could order them straight from Buck.

Thanks for clearing it up buddy. I seriously got sad when I found out they were going away. But am not completely elated that they are still going to be made. I'll be sure to get an extra one soon jut to put my mind at ease. lol

No problem :)

Some sites or sellers use that catch line to sell more knives. I see discontinued on a favorite knife, I think well I better stock up. Bad business...

Check out the discontinued Buck Mayo knives....

I have seen those before. Very nice. Now, all they need to do is combine a mayo tnt with the vantage pro and make it have a 3 inch blade and the vantage deep carry clip and that thing would be a uber-hit!

Oh yes, the Mayo collaboration. I forgot about those. Very nice knives, unfortunately priced out of my range now.

The Vantage pro would be a perfect knife with a couple of mods. Slightly larger flipper, rounded scale edges, and a bearing system rather than washers.

I liked the vantage when I had one, but I'd prefer to have something a bit larger. Like say an XL one with a 3 3/4 or 4 inch blade.
