For those that may not have gotten an email from The Knife Center (or the link in their email link showed unavailable) and may be interested they have some "Buck Vintage 503ELK Folding Knife 2.375" Satin Blade, Elk Antler Handles - Signed by Chuck Buck" knives available.

From the link:

"KnifeCenter has come into a limited number of vintage Buck knives that contain a serious amount of history. These would be considered a vault find for us since they were made in 2003 and have never been removed from their boxes...until now. They were made in the old Buck factory located in El Cajon, CA before Buck's move to Idaho in late 2004. Each knife features the hand engraved signature of the late Chuck Buck and the date of "03". This is your chance to own a piece of American knife history that is surely never to be seen again".

These with elk handles that are personally signed, are $8.00 more than they are asking for the "standard" Rosewood 503.

If you are interested, here's the link:

Edited to remove asking price as suggested by moderator below. Sorry!

Thanks for the consideration in posting your link. Likely should pick one up since as it says, doubtful they'll be any more of these in particular. :)

As of last year with the passing of Mr Buck, unless someone finds another hoard, I am pretty sure any more of these is out of the question.

In my layman's opinion, this is a pretty good value because just the elk handles are a $57.00 upcharge on their custom 503 knives, say nothing about possible collector value added by Mr Buck's personalization of each knife.

FB, Generally, unless you have a dealer membership a moderator will get on you about telling where a good knife deal is and how much it cost. In the forum rules they call it deal spotting. I recommend you do as you did but skip the cost and say something like this "this is being offered for just 10 bucks more than most regular 110's". Yes, you are skirting the issue but that's just the way the ball bounces. Otherwise all was good. I myself, because of the elk and sig., had to make sure that site was totally operating correctly. And shipping was only 3.00......300

Just ordered one.ty

Sorry! I was unaware of that rule here, I guess I was "deal spotting". On some forums that I participate in, the rule is just the opposite in that you need to justify the value of the deal vs others, or don't post it. Thanks for being gentle with me. I will go read the policy but I have edited the original post as suggested already. I did however know about posting of info regarding non-member dealers and rechecked the current status for this seller (again) before posting it up. By the way, I was in 4 3!

Yep got in trouble for this same thing on Friday

I ordered one Friday but I do wander how many they have in stock? Since it has lasted all weekend

I'll absolutely be picking one up if it's still around in a few weeks. It's gorgeous, and with Mr. Buck's signature on it? Want! Love Buck's 420HC. I've never handled a 503, though it looks to be a tiny knife. Watch pocket carry?

I phoned them and they told me that they started with 250 of them. They sounded like good people to deal with as they were very helpful on the phone!

I'm really looking forward to next Monday when mine is supposed to arrive! - Chuck

My three arrived this AM. Hopefully you guys will be as happy as I am. All three are very nice and the signature is a little different on each one. One of the three, doesn't snap all of the way closed, it leaves the tip anywhere from 1/8" to 3/8" exposed. I called and asked about cleaning it up a little and trying to apply a drop of oil at the pivot and was advised that if it didn't fix the issue, that I then wouldn't be able to return it. I opted for a return. She was great in that they will be sending a return pick up slip and will be shipping another out today. They billed my CC and then they will credit me back when the return arrives. I was so happy with her response to my inquiry, I asked if she could send an additional one in the box. :)

Yep! From my experiences at knifecenter they seem to have grade A customer service! Glad to hear it's not just me that has experienced that

[/IMG] really nice

thank you OP. this is almost exactly like the first real buck I ever owned, minus the engraving. I do remember buying it sometime back when Carter or maybe Reagan was president. It came with a sharpening kit which only seemed to dull it more. Been wondering lately where that knife went, probably grew legs 20 years or so ago. the one coming soon will be a nice replacement.

Apparently each of these were personally signed by Chuck Buck, what kind of tool was used to engrave them?
