buck VS pIg!!!!!! BUCK WINS!........with pics

Just once, I'd like to see the critter win.;)

Well Dave I do agree with at statement for certain critters. I have a soft spot for foxes and bobcats. I will never shot either and I've had plenty of opportunities. BUT, wild hogs and yotes need to be dropped everytime you get a chance. Both are pure pests and have huge negative impacts on the ecosystem.

I have to report the meat IS great and is was good to see a few 'collectible' Bucks actually get used..But not too hard!I think the D2 118 is going to be my lifetime user from now on, and the 651 rides with me every day in my SRT 10 [grey QC in 2'nd pic] as my 'truck' Buck. I want to thank my son Richard aka 'Buck' for taking the pictures and, more importantly, posting them..

Clint,

A range pig is a very nice addition to the freezer meat!!!

How are you and Dave going to cook the hams?

Edit: Dave M., just went and read your write up. It sounds like you've some experiance with pigs. You were lucky he didn't get his musk up...they can really smell bad.

When was the 651 made? Are they still available? I can't believe that I've never seen this knife before. I want one!! LOL
yea a lot of folks do !

a few years back and here is what i believe is the tale
newzealand (or possbility aussy)
military put in a order for 200 to 300 of them
and some how extras made
at one time thought to be real rare here in usa
less then 50
but then some one at buck found a small stash
i think around 50
and the guy that got them sold them cheep tell gone

they come up now and then some times
no one even joe at buck seems to know
how many are here in the usa
it is a massive hand full of a knife
if i were going to the sand box would want one
jest for the intimidating factor of its size

Awesome pics Dave and Bucksway!!,I love my 110 knives for feild dressing and quuick work, but when i have the time irts a 103 skinner, gen 5 skinner,or 119 for skinning/butchering chores.110 will do the job great, but a custom knife tailored to the exact job works better for me.You guys got some great meals ahead!I always wondered how the d2 personnel would work on something like that!tanks fer sharin'!

I say we do an online poll to see how may of us want this model made again. Then maybe, hopefully Buck reissues it! :D

Clint and Dave, you guys just made my day! Thanks for the great pics and the great write-up.

Good Job guys .Glad you had a fun time playing with some Bucks.
Jeff:D

Yes, my daughters showed hogs in 4H at our fair . The ones that didn't make the sale I put in the freezer . Sugar cured, smoked hams, bacon and made sausage and stuffed it into links . Yes, sir just me and the girls . Glad you two Buck buddies could enjoy a day using your knives . DM

ITE,I will have Richard post a few 'cool' 112's in the Sunday picture show... Finally... I still have not got all the steps from camera to post down yet.

Bucksway, you'll get it... Soon you'll be posting all kinds of pictures of 112s and so on... Well I can't wait to see some good pics of your knives... Save some for next week and so on... ITE ... ;) :D

The criticism I've heard of D2 is that it's hard to touch up in the field. Sounds like you put that concern to rest.

clint had not sharpened that D2 since he got it
while NOT dull it was NOT sharp
fellow there had a 7 inch bench tri-stone in the garage
having gloves on it was imposable to test the edge while sharping
but i learned well years ago - a quick touch up on the course stone
and touched up as went along every so often
based on jest how it felt while skining
again the touch was all from memory as had gloves on
and it worked.... great!

? D2 118 , heck yes it is great user!:D
still ... it is wish full thinking i had time to get a ....

BOS tempered
BG42 and a AG s30v
blades in a 110 on that dang hog .... :o;)
for head to head hog testing!
oh well life is not over :)
in the travels i hope to do some day
a friend may take
and give me the opportunity to do so!:D

Truth time...I can not tell much of a difference in using 'super' steels when I grab a knife.I do know that the D2 118 has stayed sharper in heavy use when cutting up big fish than other knives I normally use.I thought it was sharp when I gave it to Dave and Darrel to use on the pig because it would cut paper real slick.I guess that if your using something that is supposed to be special you think it is..LOL. I like the 118 more than ever now. I think that it's close to perfect for any fixed blade use.I sure would like to find/trade for one in stag because the smooth surface, while easy to clean,is just a little slick.
