Buck Warranty

]The old buck is packed away in a box addressed to buck. [/COLOR]Some here have said to keep it, others to trade it in. I don't want to let this one go to trade for a piece of junk. I don't think I will ever have it re-handled unless I do it myself. The blade is just way too big for any practical use. I'm not a collector, although I do like quality knives. Do knives like mine come up on ebay often? Are they sought after? If not maybe the best deal would be to get a new knife from buck, leave it new in the box up in a closet somewhere. I don't know!

If you don't want Buck to replace the knife with a new one, what's the point of sending it to them? They've already said that's what they would do.
You say it's too large anyway, so perhaps a 119 or something even smaller is in order. There are lots of them on auction sites, some even the oldies so they aren't difficult to find. New ones (119's) are readily available at Walmart at a very reasonable price.

Plumberdv, The knife is packaged and ready to be sent to Buck. I didn't send it yet. After hearing what you guys have to say I'm keeping the knife.
I'll post some pics. when I figure out how.

As Mitch said, it would be a GREAT idea to talk with Leroy Remer (get some pics to him) to see your options and find out about costs.

If the rest of the knife is in good shape it's worth putting some money into it. When an old 120 in stag comes up on e-Bay it gets tremendous interest if the work is well done and it's in good shape.

(Besides--especially in stag--it's a striking knife to grace your own wall as a wall-hanger!!!)

These should not be stashed away in a box where nobody can see them.

:)

I don't know if the above links will work, but I tried!

DONT SEND IT BACK!!!!
Get it fixed or rehandled, why would you trade a 40 year old knife for a brand new one, thats like trading a '57 Chevy Belair for a Cavalier. Take it out of the box and contact one of the dozen knife guys here to fix it or re-handle it. If you are thinking this hard about a knife you don't ever use or want to use you will be a collector soon, Believe me...You'll kick your self if you send it back!!!!!!

I will be another to say don't send it back. I own two 120's and wouldn't ever trade them for a new one. By your picture it is an old sheath and an old knife. Like MB said someone here will help you repair the crack or re-handle the knife or sell it to Heabbie.
