Buck Web Specials

Thanks for the info on the Buck Anvil. I have a new problem you guys my have some knowledge of.

The new Alpha Dorado (154CM) I bought last week appears to have a tarnished finish. Not sure if that is normal or not, but it's not near a shiny as the Alpha Hunter 154CM I also have. I did squirt some Walmart branded WD40 on the hinge so maybe that caused it. Tried using a two-step car wax on it (oxidation remover, and polish), but it's still there.

What is best product for using on the hinge and blade.

Whataya mean-tarnished? Kinda like its shiny but a little cloudy? Any pics. It could be a normal finish, I have a couple 154cm blades like that. I have also started to see it on 420hc-my USA made Bantam 285 is finished that way where it isnt satin finished.

As far as oil goes, I use Hoppes gun oil from my rifle cleaing kit.

You can see it pretty well by blowing up the photos I posted above. Appears to be the finish and not caused by a foreign substance. It's splotchy around the hinge pins.

Looks just like the rosewood handled one I have. I think that's just the way they came.

I agree, thats what mine are like-I couldnt get a decent pic to show it. A mirror polished blade would not have it. I have noticed it becoming more normal even on the base steel but esp 154cm. Maybe one of the Buck boys can tell us more.
