Does anyone know how many of these were made?
The BG-42 has the custom stamp and the ATS-34 has the standard stamp!
I would say the BG-42 is left over from the master series?

Thanks in advance for any input!!!! :D

JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D
They actually give you days off? :D LOL

Hi Jim,

You can send me the BG-42. You don't want a knife no one can answer questions about...now...do ya?

I see you lurking at the bottom of the screen Joe :D
Did you have a great Xmas? Lots of buck knives?

Hey Jim,
Can you give me the catalogue numbers from the box labels? I am not sure where they came from, could be left over blades from a special project or something like that. If that is the case, we may not be able to determine how many were made. :(

I added a few photo's of some bg-42 vanguard zippers that i have.
I bought these Feb. of 2006 and when i bought these here's what i was told.
These are Buck Custom Vanguard Zippers(B691-SP9-0) made out of BG-42 steel and are a limited production of 500 pieces for last years fall hunting and fishing classic at Bass Pro Shops. Chuck Buck and Johnny Morris teamed up with this one, and the steel was set to be destroyed when Johnny Morris had the Buck family built these knives especially for Bass Pro Shops. The steel originally came from the Buck Custom Shop in California, then the knives were assembled after the move to Post Falls Idaho. The knife has the traditional Buck Custom , Anvil logo. This knife is one of 500 and has no idaho stamp, but was assembled in Idaho.

I don't know if all this info is 100% accurate but that's what i was told when i ordered these from Bass Pro, the manager of the knife department is the one who gave me the info, the reason i asked to speak to him is i was wanting a discount if i bought 10 of these, I would have bought them anyway as i was wanting the BG-42

Thanks Tom! Do you know what the price was on those?
I paid $65.00 NO box...
When I see that you have 10 it makes my collection look anemic :)
I better stop collecting now :D
Thanks again Tom!! I appreciate it!!

they wouldn't budge on the price but gave free shipping.
I've sold 5 of'em and one guy didn't want the box , so i have an extra box
if you want it.

No wonder the BG42 is in short supply, between the awesome 112s and these Vanguards, Tom has it all at his house:thumbup:

It sharp to, when i was taking those pictures i barely touched my finger taking one out of the sheath and was wounded in action. The zippers have
a plastic liner in the nylon sheath good thing, the MS is leather no liner so
a person has to be carefull when putting that one back in.

Jim and Tom, nice zippers! :D

I can tell you that the ATS-34 Zippers were also part of an exclusive run for Bass Pro Shops, so I figure the numbers on them were limited as well. As you can see from the sheath, those came out in 2002 during the 100-year Buck anniversary.

I bought that pictured mint Zipper (now Jim's) from the Nashville Bass Pro store and, later, a Vanguard from the Bass Pro website. I've field dressed my last two deer with that ATS-34 Vanguard. Great knives!

FWIW, I had a custom kydex sheath made for the Vanguard, and I still have another one of the 100-year Vanguard/Zipper sheaths around here somewhere. If somebody needs one for a collection or for a user, I can probably dig it out.

I wish now I'd picked up a Vanguard in BG-42. Oh well...
