As stated, Buck does not make these knives and due to Ca. and federal law does not want anything to do with them.
However, a company named Cumberland Mountain was buying cases of Buck's and doing the conversions and selling them. I understand they either recently went out of business or just stopped doing the Buck's. If you watch the for sale forum they are available quite often and all the ones I've seen are very nicely done and have quite a kick opening.
You can usually get one for about $110-125 although some will try to charge more claiming they are rare now. Don't fall for it, there are plenty around.
Cumberland Mountain isn't doing them any more because the owner died. His son who, has taken over the company, doesn't want to do them. I understand that there is another outfit converting them, maybe more than one, but I don't know who they are and I'm not sure about the quality of the work. Cumberland's were very good. The guy was an artist.
Jim Davis of Sun Valley Knives in the Phoenix, AZ area is a supplier for them. I don't have his number handy but you should be able to get it through directory service. He also has a small website but I don't know the URL. (I'm at home & the info is at the store).
