Bucket List # 2 - Tenting for one full Year - summer and winter in Canada

So true! That’s always the way…stuff ya need is at the bottom!

The end is almost upon you, Susan. 😁 This was a great winter to be tenting! Not too many storms, nice and nippy throughout with only a few really cold days! Just lovely.

I’m so happy that you have made it through the worst of the winter and have had fun watching this thread.

Thanks for following along 🐾🐾

Near the end ... and plotting. I do love winter.

Never to forget the beauty of winter ... the quiet... snow, ice, river mist at sunrise ...

the big (ratio 8 to 1) snow melt project that tells you dragging water uphill on the sleigh may be the least labour intensive method 😁...

Well the geese and robins are arriving .. and flickers too .. although snow still covers all but the odd patch of south facing hillside.

Speaking of ... The path to camp has been treacherous for almost a week with rain then very mild temps. Last haul of propane and water was tough. I needed to break a fresh path on snowshoes. ... and did faceplant more than once.

Today in the beautiful March sunshine you can see the remains of the original south facing path giving way to the warmth.

Snow has receded from the tent ...

It is hard to believe that I dug out around the exterior of the tent so many times and that I would dig down to the tops of the stakes and use them as supports.

I pitched using stakes rather than have guy lines extend out so far (tent shape requires) and for tensioning over winter. I had to put blue pool noodles on guy lines with summer tent because Daisy would send tent pegs flying when she got the zoomies 😁

Heat off inside today .. sunshine on canvas cooked inside at 29⁰c

So, before rain expected tomorrow, I wanted to dig out my tools that I haven't seen since Dec 2 .. 3 .the big snowstorm

Snow is soft now. Easy digging .. down only about a foot and a half....

First item small propane heater ...

Then the rest of the items I had in the shelter I was using for wood processing ..

DeWalt cordless drill and hand chain saw .. both batteries working !

Everything in great shape except my beautiful belt axe ... Blade is ok but there is moisture damage to handle.

So I have been fortunate.

What a choice for my bucket list 😮

Good morning from Sleepy Dog Camp... while power outage remains since wee hours ... the solar brick so far is keeping my phone at 100 % so I can grab a few images of the ice storm still enveloping camp.

All night long the sound of trees cracking, branches falling ... too many to count. Just now several branches have hit the ground close to our tent but we will be ok where we are
Honestly I've never heard so much noise from tree damage .. but then I've never tried to sleep through an ice storm in a tent before 😁

Poked my head outside just before freezing rain began again ... This is overhead guy line from centre door

Think I'll just stay inside for a bit ...in prep for this storm I had stocked up on propane, butane, food and water.

Before this storm I had to haul the toboggan over 40 ft of weeds, then snow uphill to camp.. silver lining ... It should go more smoothly over içe ??

Typical load but without water jug ...

Power may return Thu ... Am using solar, with one day of sun it has been slim pickings for communicating.

Rain / freezing rain warning for tomorrow as well .. glad am stocked up.

I was unable to post yesterday on the last official 😁 day of bucket list #2 ... one full year!

One winter - and here I am still ....

Quickly now as I am conserving battery ... Here are a couple pics plus a short of the ice storm.. it was a full 360 ⁰ of toppling trees ... Cracking limbs and trunks, constant crashing and crackling ice

I'll say it a second time .. What a bucket list

Congratulations!!!! What a fantastic accomplishment…I’m excited for you.

My wife and I have enjoyed watching your adventure here on BF. She says congratulations as well! 😎👍🏼

🥳🥳🥳🥳

Ha ... Was thinking of taking a seasonal campsite at a provincial park but Daisy is an "off-leash" kind of gal !

The crown land around Chapleau may just be a draw ... I love the wilds and terrain of that whole area.

Undecided about this summer ... But something will jump out at me. Yikes
