Before the end of the year I intend to pull the trigger on a new (or nearly new) Battle Mistress, the only problem I have at this point in time is choice (too much) and choice. But I will get there.

ASHBM. Hands down. Without a doubt, the best value in busse blades. At factory pricing, you will NOT regret it I bet.

I rather like the handle on the older models with the butt pommel, not sure they do them on the new ones.

With the new improved ergos of the ASHBM handle no more "Pinkie" bite....you can choke down a wee bit for better leverage. I have huge hands and found it very comfortable for chopping. Great Value...

While the NMFBM may not be as readily available as some of the other Mistresses, once you have it you won't need any of them ;)

The Fusion handle is definitely comfortable on the FBM it is my favorite handle....

The ASHBM has just not resonated with me, I have handled a couple and, to be truthful, I really want to like it (enough to buy one) as they are a real deal $ wise in a big Busse at the moment (moreso when the $A sucks so bad at the moment). I just can't warm up to them, I can't say what or why, I think they are a great blade, but I just can't pull the trigger.

NMFBM is brilliant !!! The FBM as well , my FFBM gets grabbed before most all other of my big Busses these days ;)

I know what you mean Andy - I just can't get comfortable with the SHMB handle & I really want to like it too.

I belive the thing is with this handle is that it is made to work well in virtually any grip you may find yourself using. I have used this knife enough to tell you that while it doesn't feel all that impressive when casually holding it, it just plains works for me and my short fingers in chopping, choking up for finer task, etc....

Try one for yourself before dismissing it, don't just fondle..... :p

IMO, this is the best Battle Mistress we have seen to date w/ the Bushwhacker Mistress in a close second.

Your comments have all been great. Trouble in oz is that they are not that readily available so it is all word of mouth and research before pulling the trigger, but every little bit of information is valuable and appreciated.

Where are you located here mate, there are lots of these blades spread out across the country, you just need to know to to find them... ;)

Basically he's after a Battle Mistress with Fusion handle ( I know from another forum).

Talking about older models here is not getting anywhere as the really older models had Straight or Ergo handles.

I hear what you are saying. Truth be told I did more than fondle & just couldn't get it to work. I don't doubt the style, I just can't see it working for me. Mind is open though!

I have a 1/300 shbm, ashbm, CGFBM, and moabm in route. So far of the ones I've held, the ashbm feel the most robust to me. I'd love to get my hands on a NMFBM sometime!
