Bucket List

Hmm.. This sounds interesting.
I remember the one I handled (nmfbm le) to be a bit more choppy (tip heavy) compared to the cgfbm that I got at blade.

found this in a quick search..

even more considerations when searching for the right blade, decisions decisions. Thanks for that. it is good to be informed, however having only ever used a Tops Tom Brown Tracker I am at a bit of a disadvantage relevant to the different size steels etc, but have no fear I will figure it all out. Research.

If you are only going to get one it will be a very tough choice. For fusion handles, the MOABolo is going to be hard to beat, though a CGFBM with magnum handles on it will perform very well at a lighter weight. The original thinner NMFBM's are nice too and you can't go wrong with any of the LE or FF blades either. Even an FSH is pretty good, and the NMFSH is very good, as in almost an FBM LE clone performance wise.

Awesome picture Tim difficult choice there

Yes, the NMFSH is basically a drop point FBMLE. I never really got into the fatties. The Ergos are substantially smaller, and the BWM has a great handle but relatively less power. The CGFBM is my favorite so far. I really like my NMFBM too but if I had to carry it, I might just drop down to the CGFBM. I managed to resist the ASHBM until the BIG finish was an option so I got one and I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I want to love it, but I'm really not sure if I could ever like it more than my CGFBM.

Right now if I could only keep one, it would definitely be the CGFBM. If I could only keep 2, I would be tempted to keep the BMe and NMFBM. But I would probably miss my CG. The fusion handles are just so nice in the big choppers. I prefer the Ergos and Euros in the 5"-9" range. If they threw bushwacker handles on something 0.25-0.32, especially with handle lightening, that would be a must-have for me,and a serious contender to dethrone the CGFBM.

thank you for your insights, once I get my head around the acronyms for the different models and handle styles I will be able to narrow it down, hell of a task though. They all look the goods.

The price of a NMFBM through the custom shop might just surprise you (and in a good way). Only drawback is the wait time. IMHO, NMFBM>>ASHBM, though the price of the current CG ASHBM is hard to beat due to being available direct through the Busse website.
