These are all natural blocks, they have not been stabilized. Buckeye is a soft wood so you should have these blocks stabilized or use a hardening finish. It is common for buckeye to have bark pockets, voids and small checks. Most will get filled when stabilized. I trimmed away most of the obvious flaws but still left the blocks oversized when possible.
