Buckeye wood handle balance and blems for 10/20

Congrats gentlemen. Nice haul today.

Quick question; I saw a gurkha documentary a while back. In the WWII era there were gurkha that were holding their knives in their mouth while they were doing other things. I find these HI knives heavier than anything I'd want to hold in my mouth. Is there any info on what the dimensions of the actual WWII's were?

I don't have any actual dimensions but the knives you mention were considerably thinner and much lighter than what we see now days.

I have a couple from IMA and they are again much thinner. Still not something I'd want to run around with in my mouth but I'm not a Gurkha, probably never could be on my best day.

That CAK would be my pick of the litter. Something about it just sings to me. Gorgeous lot, all of them.

Yeah it was real close on that one but the non-ring handle was the deal-decider for me.
Got the DD on the M43! HAPPY DANCE TRIANGLE BOX INCOMING!!

It's not warranted as a Prybar like the CAK but I'm sure it could take it..and I would never.
I'm replacing my little Fiskars/Gerber hatchet with it.

:-( I got sharked on the Buckeye :-(

But the Foxy Folly is a DD!

Guess its time to see the dentist. My extra rows of teeth are showing again.

When I read the heading, I, probably like you, began sending a message to Auntie. I asked her for a pic of the balance knife. I added I would probably take it, and left my address.

Then I left tapatalk, loaded BF's old school where I got to see that blade. I looked at it too long. Snapping outta the haze, I refreshed, scrolled down, and saw your EMS on it. I put it outta my mind, thinking I only tire kicked it.

Just now, first time since then, Im throwing out junk mail, and There is a DD for the Balance!

The waters safe.

Unless its unusual.

Or it sings.

Nicely done! I was waiting all day to see what was going to show up. I walked away fir a few minutes and missed out.

Still happy to land an awesome foxy folly!

Enjoy that awesome blade!!

Anybody EMS the CAK?

I didnt shark it, but these waters be tortuous, aye!

Looks like no one claimed the CAK or the Malla. Both fine work'rs, and fine examples being offered.

DD on the Tin Chirra. I'm looking forward to it.

Got my Foxy Folly yesterday, and I must say I am very impressed. The "Grain mark" mentioned is in the perfect spot for my thumb and causes it to fit my hand even better!

I am a little surprised at how light this knife feels. Anybody out there put one of these to hard use? I am interested to see how it compares to my WWII or CAK for chopping and clearing brush

If you can get yourself to actually use it (I've tried but they are so darned nice I hate to scuff them up) it will work well for brush, branches and such.

For Chopping the CAK and WWII win the day. No contest. The Foxy would make a good show but the weight of the other two will leave it behind.

that is kinda what I thought, but I really hate to have safe queens, I am sure at some point I will give it a go (but it is likely to bring a tear to my eye)

Balance Buckeye is amazing. This handle fits my hand better than most, maybe better than all. Amazing. I cant even drive home from the PO. I cant stop admiring it.
Way to go Uncle Kami Pala, you knocked it out of the park! I have put my radar on. I hope Kami Pala continues to work on Kukuris.

Fear the water boys.

I really like Pala's work but there is a lot of competition for it! (as it should be)

The M-43 is still going very, very strong. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Looking forward to the next post!
