BuckMaster 184

I have to laugh... Why?
Because I had been looking to buy one to put it in my collection, and here you come in and say you got one "gifted" to you! Oh, sure, you get one that just lands in your lap! 😅
Congrats! 👍😊👍
Hahah I got it from an old family friend who was a chairman for Hoffritz. The they manufactured about 50 BuckMaster 184 Patent Pending branded Hoffritz for display at their store I got it gifted the knife yesterday with the original box and all paper work. Is a really aggressive looking knife I wrote it out today and I got many looks

I’m 22 but from what I herd it was one of most popular knife in the 80s. “All the cool kids had it” it one good looking knife and I have a mid size collection nothing like the 184.

It was vary popular in terms of wanting one! It was less so in terms of having one. They were not cheap!

I wanted one very badly back in the day. Found one in a pawn shop in the case between to a Cold Steel tanto and a Buck 124 frontiersman. I took the 124 and the tanto home for the price of the Buckmaster. Don’t remember whatever happened to the 124 but I sold the vintage tanto on eBay in 2015 for 350!

Plenty of info on the Buck 184 on the internt if you know how to google. Much of it right here on BF using the Search function.
Had mine from mid 80s until about 2015. Very cool, very macho, very heavy.
Please post a photo though cause I've never seen one with the Hoffriz marking.

Does anyone know what the average price for a Buckmaster 184 was during the years they were being produced?

Thanks in advance 👍

I'm pretty sure I paid $125. I ended up selling it for $440 but like 30 years later.
That figre sticks in my head because there were a number of cool knives that had that price then. The Cold Steel Master Tanto was one of them.
I bought a Blackie Collins Combat Master for $125 too. Oh and Pat Crawford made me a boot knife for $125.

still got that Pat Crawford boot knife? love to see it, if ya do.....

A few days ago I had purchased a Buckmaster 184 on the bay auction site. It fell through after I made the payment because the seller had sold it on another site, so he no longer had it (him not taking the bay auction he had down in time).

Well, the op post above made my finger go and twitch onto another one on the bay. It was a buy now offer, and wasn't cheap, but... oh well 😅
Based on the pics, she seems pristine enough, which is something I wanted it to be. Also, it's a later forged blade version, having the model designation and US Patent Numbers forged right into the blade's fullers. That too is the version I wanted.
So, I'm hoping this one goes through okay for me, especially since the seller is in Japan, and I'm in the USA. We shall see 🤞

Here are pics off of the auction...
